I am trying to figure out if we should stay in the village at Port Jeff or at the Holiday Inn Express in Centereach. The prices for Heritage & Holiday are pretty close and I am wonderring if it would be nicer for myself and OT guests to stay in Port Jeff. Any thoughts....particularly on Danford's is it worth the money??
Where are you having your wedding & reception? I have stayed at Danfords (I grew up in Port Jefferson) once and did not enjoy it....room was old and tattered...Heritage, well, my father has stayed there a few times, but I haven't, I would suggest checking it out first. There are B&Bs in Port Jeff, check out the White House in PJ...These are just my experience and opinion....Someone may have had a great experience at Danfords.. We are getting married out East and we booked a B&B after we went to tour it etc.. and meet w/ the Innkeeper. We are excited about it, it was nice. It was pricey, but...it will be our wedding night and they said we can check in early on the wedding day (noon) to get ready. Very flexible Hosts.
We are having the reception at Port Jefferson Country Club. For such a cute touristy town there does not seem to be much in lodging around. I did not think of the B&B's so I will check that too...thanks!
I recently had a nightmarish experience with Danfords (yesterday). Search my name for a recent post. It was resolved but definately not a good start. I saw the rooms and thought they were pretty nice. The heritage inn is just down the street but fairly basic. Keep in mind that there is a two night minimum for Danford's during the summer.
Bumping to see if anyone else has any thoughts. Irene.....I read what happened....awful!
I'm having my reception at danford's and so it was just easiest to book rooms for my guests there. If I wasn't having my reception there, I would look into the b and b's.
