Dang that was FAST. I have an interview set up already!!!
Some of you may have seen me post a quickie request for a look-see of my resume. Well I emailed it in on December 17th.
I got a phone call on the 21st that they had received my resume and would call to set an appt. Well I got that call on the 22nd to set an appt for an interview!!!
We played a little phone tag game, holidays and such and finally got a hold of each other today. They wanted to see me THIS WEEK!
God I wish I could but I have renewals. I explained that although I appreciate the offer I must delay until Monday the 3rd as I have commitments to my clients and their upcoming new year’s renewals. (commonly knows as the 1/1’s in our workplace).
So I’m all scheduled to see her on the 3rd instead! How unreal! I need to go home now and brush up on my workers compensation data and re-read carefully the job description. I have a slight advantage as I’ve seen the ACTUAL requisition request for this position. My ex-boss, who left my company to work at this one I’m interviewing at just this past November, sent her description to our office in case we ‘knew anyone’ who would be a good candidate. She later called me and said she wanted to see my resume.
In a way I hope it works out because things have been getting very sour here, sadly. And I’d be 10 mins from Jim’s office and no longer have to use the LIRR. I’d work for a boss I already respect and like. I’d be working for ONE client as opposed to the 19 or more I juggle now. This would mean working more ‘private sector’ than I do now.
In a way I won’t be disappointed if it doesn’t work out. A big part of the problem here has put in her notice of resignation to leave in March. She’s not the problem itself but definitely part of it. With her gone, things are bound to improve. With only her notice in things are already improving hand over fist. This job offers me a GREAT opportunity to continue school as well as grow in the industry. Best part is you can transfer and take your salary with you! Its also mainstream industry with other options always open.
I am so torn! Excited, worried, resigned to the outcome either way, hopeful and nervous ALL at the same time.
