My minimum is 100 and I'd like it to be around 120. My FMIL invited about 20 more people than my mom so we are at about 145 invites. When it comes to allowing friends to bring guests I think I'm kind of stuck...is it bad to not give friends with good standing relationships the option of bringing a guest?

Re: Dates/No dates?
I invited everyone with a guest but i did have a few people ask either me or FH if we really 'meant it'! I guess people have gotten used to the idea of being invited solo.

I didn't invte everyone with a guest only those in relationships and people who wouldn't know anyone else other than my fiance and myself.

Re: Dates/No dates?
i'm only inviting people who are in serious relationships with a guest .... i don't need to pay so much money to host their new flavor of the month.
that said, if the person doesn't really know too many other people, i'd probably invite them with a guest.

I invited everyone with a guest bc most of our friends and family are in relationships. I like the idea of inviting guests if it is within your budget. If it's not, I don't think it looks bad to invite without guests.

Re: Dates/No dates?
I invited everyone single with a guest and only ONE person is bringing a guest (who we know but he is not dating exclusively)
It is up to you. I kind of figured most of those invited with a guest wouldn't bring one.
Maybe stick by the guideline of only inviting those with a guest who are in relationships, etc...

Re: Dates/No dates?
we invited all of our friends regardless of relationship status with guests. FMIL was trying to invite FH's 30 year old cousin's without guests and I thought it was ridiculous and apparently they asked NUMEROUS times if they could bring guests...don't ask me why it's ok for her to pay for extra of FH's frat brothers when he asked but not guests of family members... tacky... i'm inviting them regardless and she can fight it out with my mother later when it comes to paying for them.

Re: Dates/No dates?
There are only... 7 of my friends that aren't in relationships that I'm inviting with 'and guest'. 3 of them won't know many people at the wedding, and out of the other four 2 won't bring dates (they never do), and the other 2 I figured why not. Whatever.

Re: Dates/No dates?
I invited everyone solo unless they are in a long term relationship that FH and I have actually met their gf or bf. Not some flavor of the month. Plus, who wants to bring a date to a wedding and have to babysit them since they don't know anyone. I would love to go solo to a wedding...as long as FH comes to pick me up. FH doesn't dance much, so it is always like we are two different parties together. Invite your friends. No guests.

I think that if you are trying to keep to a budget and a smaller amount of people, your friends will understand. Do what you can afford.

I am inviting everyone with a guest. I think at a certain age, people should have the option. I think you definitely should give +1 if the person is in a relationship

I invited everyone with a guest. We felt weird picking and choosing who could and couldn't bring someone.

Re: Dates/No dates?
We invited everyone with a guest too, although it killed my accountant FH and did cause a few arguments. Of course it depends on your budget- we were paying for it ourselves and I would rather eat the money than offend somebody. I didn't feel I had the right to place a judgement on somebody's relationship or lifestyle by deciding whether their guests were worthy of an invite. However, I think it depends a lot on the ages of your guests- if lots of them are youngish (early 20s) then it's possible that most won't have serious relationships and prob won't bring a guest b/c they can't cover their guests' plates (unless they don't care about that either!).

Re: Dates/No dates?
we invited all our adult friends and family with a date except for DH's neices and nephews because there are a ton of them (26 total) they only had a guesti f they were married or engaged or a serious relationship.
We had similar numbers and ended up with 112
