Daughter as Date?!

Daughter as Date?!

Why would someone even think they could bring their 4 year old daughter as their date to a wedding when the invitation clearly says 'Mr. and Mrs. So and So'???!!

We didn't invite any children to the wedding. Should I tell others that they can bring their kids, even if they already RSVPd? I'm not talking alot of kids, maybe 4 more. But how would I ever explain this? This woman is a high school friend of FH and if we tell her she can't bring her daughter, she won't come at all. She lives OOT and not anywhere near her family.

A 4 year old child is NOT a date. A 18 and older could be considered a date.

That's rediculous!! FH and I are hoping family/friends don't try to pull this one on us etiher. We're having NO kids, 18 and over only at our reception. We're hoping no one says, 'well...she's 14, can she come?' I'll freak out if they say that.
4 years old...is she out of her mind?
I would be polite and say, we're having no children at our wedding and we'd like it to stay that way.
Good luck!

Exactly. No kids means NO KIDS!

Other people may be upset when they see a 4 year old there.

Plus, you're now supposed to pay full price for a kid to be there as someone's date? NO WAY!

That was presumptuous and rude of that woman. If she cannot go, then she cannot go... but I'd definitely say, 'Sorry, NO KIDS!'

Re: Daughter as Date?!

My best friend friend from HS who lives OOT assumed she could bring her son (3yo) to our wedding, even though the invite only said her and her DH. It was the hardest thing to do, but I had to call her back and tell her that there were no children coming to the wedding, only nieces and nephews.
I knew I was risking her saying she wouldn't come, but I just had to do it. I hate it that people put us in these situations!

If you said No Kids than you should stay with that . I would be really aggrivated at that. People have no brains.

i agree with the other ladies -- you should tell her the age limit you set.

I would call her and simply state that children are not welcome at the wedding.

I def think you should call them if that is a decision you made you should stick to it. tell her you really want her to be there and set her up with a babysitter in the area that you know and trust. I am serious I am sure you can find one and if not I will help you find one.!

Re: Daughter as Date?!

why not try to arrange child care for her for the wedding so that she can come and you still maintain your no kids policy?!?!

Thanks for all the responses. I think I need to talk to FH about this again. Our first conversation didn't go too well. He thinks it's no big deal. And to make matters worse, our RH caters to kids so I feel like I'm being mean to say they can't come!
