I went to David's bridal last week on a Wednesday to try on one dress that I found online. I went there without an appointment and the girl at the front desk gave me a major attitude. She said there was only one person that could help me and she was busy with another bride. I explained I only needed to try on one dress and my friend could help me get it on. She told me I would have to come back another day. I was so angry. I walked around the store for about 30 minutes and asked the girl again if there was some way I could just try on this one dress. She said I could wait but it might be another hour. There were at least 5 other employees there chatting or standing around. I was so angry. About 40 minutes later a girl comes up to me and says she is the receptionist but she could help me with the one dress. Where was this girl this entire time?! So annoyed I tried on the dress and really liked it but decided not to buy it cause I was so annoyed. I bet if I was in a better mood that could've been the dress. Not a fan of David's bridal.

They always seem to have major attitudes, the same thing happened to me but I made an appointment and came back. They don't even help you get into the dress all they do is pull them for you.. I heard great things about the one in Massapequa though. I am debating on going out there next time !

Yep I had a bad experience there as well. But they are budget friendly found my dress and BM dresses that I love. So I had to try on solo. Annoying I feel like I didn't get the full effect...oh well.

I don't mind if they don't help me. I just wish I wasn't given an attitude lol

I always had the opposite experience with them where I just wanted to browse at bridesmaid dresses and they wouldn't let me be. Try on other dresses but if it is the one, don't let them stop you!

Wow I've never had issues there. I went to the one in Queens without an appointment to try on my BM dress for my friend's wedding. And I also went to the one in Westbury to have my BMs try on their dresses for my wedding, but I had an appt.

Normally I make appointments but I figured it was a Wednesday and that I wouldn't need one. Doubt that I will go back :(

I am sorry to hear about your experience at David's Bridal. I do work at one, so perhaps I can help explain the policy. First of all, the attitude is unacceptable, no matter what. In order for dresses to be taken off the rack, it must be by a consultant and you must be registered with us before trying on wedding gowns. Not everyone who works there is a consultant, therefore not just any employee can get the dress for you. I highly recommend making an appt before you go, that way you are guaranteed to have a consultant work with you. I am sorry you had a bad experience. Don't let that discourage your from buying the dress of your dreams though! I hope it wasn't the massapequa store!

Which location was this? I had a not so great experience at the DB in the city.
With that said though, if you felt it could be the dress, I wouldn't let that bad experience ruin it. If anything, maybe make an appointment at another location and explain the rude experience at your 1st visit and I am sure you will have a better one. Good luck.

I went to the one in the city as well and I had a pretty good experience. It definitely wasn't as nice as when I went to a small boutique but everyone was pretty amicable.
You should give it another shot at another DB since you like the dress

Is the dress only available at DB? I would check around to see if anyone else carries it. DB should have to earn your business, they certainly aren't the only budget friendly option.

omg i left so pissed off and never looked back after going to the DB in massapequa last september! although i didnt have an appt they said they could take me then they basically left me alone with crappy dresses the consultant pulled bc she wasnt listening to me.... while she went to help her 'other' client. they could have just said no, come back later!

I had the same issue with the one in Lake Grove. AWFUL experience. They were so nasty to my mother and I that I actually called 1800 number on their website to complain. 2 weeks prior to this bad experience I had a great experience at the Westbury location, but the company as a whole left such a bad taste in my mouth that I would never buy my dress from them..

I also had a terrible experience at the Lake Grove location. First of all my consultant was helping myself and 3 other brides! Half the time I had no clue where she was. She also didn't get me any of the styles I asked for. It was like it was going in one ear and out the other. When I had the last dress on, another consultant was trying to pressure me to say yes and buy it. I couldn't wait to get out of there at that point. I was so overwhelmed and annoyed.

I went twice and had two completely different experiences each time lol! It was both for BM dresses. The first time, I basically had to pull the dresses off the rack myself and hand them out to my BMs because the lady disappeared and was NOT helpful. The second time, I went with a few girls because one couldn't make it the first time and the others wanted to try on again, and it was an amazing experience, I had a super helpful consultant and I barely did anything, I was bored actually hahah. It really depends who helps you, I would suggest make an appointment for when they are NOT busy and it will be a better experience. This was also in the Massapequa store.

I have heard bad things about DB too but I would just be firm with them and keep on top of them if you really want a dress from them.

I bought my dress at David's Bridal in Massapequa and had a great experience. I had an appointment and Joan was my consultant. She's an older woman (she had on a necklace that said Grandma) and was super patient with me. She also wasn't trying to make a big commission because she encouraged me to buy the $300 dress and not the more expensive Vera Wang ones
