David Tutera got me thinking....

David Tutera got me thinking....

I was watching MFW last night and the bride was allowing her BM's to wear whatever shoes they wanted as long as they were similar in color to their dresses... he made his 'David' look of disgust face.... and well he changed them and they all wore the same shoe in the same color as the BM dresses.

I was planning on allowing my girls to do the same thing. Although I was actually thinking of asking them to wear black shoes. My BM dresses are going to be HOT PINK! and my colors are hot pink, black, white (and bling)... Also I am wearing hot pink shoes.... (ok if this is bridezilla of me) but I wanted a pic of the girls all with their shoes showing including mine, and mine would 'pop'... B-zilla a little, I know....

So now I am thinking should I chose the shoe? Should they wear hot pink, should they wear a pretty silver shoe...

IDK what to do... HELP!!

** David if your reading this... HELP!! **

Re: David Tutera got me thinking....

I think David is a little much suggesting that they all wear the same shoe...when I was a BM we were told just to wear a silver shoe, which was good because I have flat feet, so I was able to buy a shoe that was comfortable for me.

Also, our dresses were full length so it wasn't like people were seeing enough of our shoes to make it matter.

Re: David Tutera got me thinking....

My only issue with making them wear a certain shoe is this:

1. I feel if I require a certain shoe, then I must pay for it
2. Some of my girls are much taller than others and for them all to wear the same sized heel will make some of my girls giants, lol

I am having all of my girls wear a silver shoe, and I'm wearing white. Honestly, you barely even see the shoes most of the day. I figure my white will pop from the silver. I would say with hot pink dresses, have your girls wear silver.......unless there's any black actually IN the dress, then a black shoe would work. But for a summer wedding, I'd say a silver shoe. Also you could maybe tell them you'd prefer closed toe, open toe, strappy, whatever it is, that way it'd be a little more uniform.

ETA: If the girls were wearing a tea-length gown it would be a completely different story for me. THEN I'd ask them all to wear the same shoe.

honestly especially with black i really dont think it matters as long as its evening appropriate and goes with the dress, the only reason i would say yes it might be better for the to get all the same shoe is because of that pic you want, if all the bm shoes are the same your shoes will pop more than if they were all different

Re: David Tutera got me thinking....

There is a black sash in the dress, and my MOH will be wearing black with a hot pink sash. So I think I will go with black and allow them to chose their own shoe which was my original plan. They are floor length gowns so they will barely even be seen.

Thanks!

yaaaaaaaa im letting them get their own shoes....

the requirements are
1. Silver
2. Open Toe of some sort (even peep toe)
3. New shoes

my BMs range in height from 5'0 to 5'11....i cant make them wear the same heel...my shorties wanna wear stilletos and my cousin who's 5'11 wants to wear flats or like a 1/2 in heel...

plus...i dont want to have to buy them, and some of my girls can barely afford the dress let alone a specific pair of shoes i pick out!

I think your idea is fine...actually i think that it makes for beautiful pics! (does that sound bridezilla of me haha) but seriously, i think he didn't like that girls bm shoes because the color was off and they were supposed to compliment or match the dress and they didn't. I am thinking about letting my girls pick a shoe that they like because I want them to be comfortable.

From my personal experience as a BM...once i had to order a specific shoe, it was the most uncomfortable shoe ever. I didn't care bc as a good bm, I did what I was told, but I would never ask my girls to do this....everyone has different feet and not everyone can wear the same shoe. So no i wouldn't have my girls do this.

Lol funny I watched that show last night and it made me rethink a lot of things - including the shoe thing - i was planning on letting everyone wear their own choice also....

This is exactly what I was thinking. Plus IMO they don't have to be little clones of one another. I pick the dress they can pick the shoes (and maybe even the accesories, havn't decided yet). Also a black shoe can certainly be worn again.

David scared me... haha

Also you are all right those girls shoes did NOT go!

I am making my girls wear the same exact shoe. I told them to expect this when I asked them to be my BM. The shoes were $18 so it wasn't a huge deal. Also, as far as shoes go (as compared to a BM dress) the shoes can actually be worn again.

Re: David Tutera got me thinking....

my SIL let us pick our own shoe but it had to be the same color as the dress, our dresses were short and everyone saw our feet. But no one noticed. it actually worked out nicely, there were 4 BMs, 1 MOH and I was the jrBM. 2 of the BMs went shopping together and bought the same shoe, then the other two went together and bought the same shoe and the MOH had a totally different style (as did I). and honestly no one noticed (even my shoes that ended up being tie-dyed because the MOH spilled champagne on them before we even got to the church!)

I plan on letting mine wear whatever shoes they want, as long as their the same color and similar style (open toed vs closed, heel vs. wedge, etc.) because everyone has a different foot, one style might look great on one BM and horrible on another, and one might be comfortable to a BM while is really painful to another.

I don't know how I feel about having them all wear the same shoe... I think shoes get tricky. They can't be altered to people like a dress. If a BM doesn't like a dress, at least it doesn't physically hurt them. I know if I were forced to wear heels, I'd break my ankle and have blisters all over me.

do you have really long bm's dresses? would ppl see the shoes at all? i think its a bit of a pain if someone told me to buy this exact shoe and dye it... its just an extra expense. but I understand if they are wearing tee length dresses!

my girls are wearing tea length dresses and i'm not making them all wear the same shoes. i just told them they have to be gold and strappy sandals but thats it. imo if people are really looking at their shoes enough to notice that they are all different i must have done something wrong in picking the dresses...

Shauna, this is soooooo funny cuz i was literally just having this convo with my FH. I was also saying that David got me thinking about shoes. I think it looks awesome to have them where the same shoe but personally if i was asked to wear a certain shoes, there is a good chance i would be miserable. I have wide feet and they usually could hardly fit into a lot of shoes and if they do, Ive literally cried when i wore them.

I do like them all the same color though and I was thinking of asking the girls to all dye them the same or just wear black. But with your case Shauna, asking them to wear all black is the easiest thing for them. Who doesnt have a pair of black shoes and if they have to buy, most girls would realize they will wear them again so not a big deal at all.

JMHO about same shoes.

Lorin, love how we are always onthe same page!! Thanks for the advise. I am going to stick with the black color, I would like an open toe, and as high or short as they like.

Hope this thread doesn't make me sound like I have a foot fetish...
