For everyone who has purchased their dress' from David's. I too bought my dress there (picking it up next week). I so far have had no problems at all (actually they were very helpful when I was buying the dress, it was a good experience). However, I wanted to get a dress w/sleeves for my Dec. wedding, (not many w/sleeves out there), and had heard that you could order extra material and have sleeves added. When I mentioned this at David's, they looked at me like I had 2 heads. Anyway I fell in love with a dress with 3/4 sleeves, which is fine for me, but the dress has a chapel train which I would like to have removed. I am having a hard time figuring how they can cut off a train if they are not willing to add sleeves. Is there anyone out there that purchased from David's but got alterations elsewhere?? If so, can you share the name(s) & number(s) of who or where you got the alterations.

I got my dress from there, bought it off the rack and I have it at home, but have not had it altered yet. I don't know where I will take it yet, but defintitely not back there. I too had a good experience, but I have heard way too many horror stories about the alterations and dirty water in the steamers and stuff like that. As far as the train, I don't know much about sewing, but it does seem that it would be easier to cut off a train than to add sleeves..? good luck!

Maybe I should bring mine somewhere else for the alterations when it comes in. Your hearing horror stories is scaring me.

I really would take it some where else. I honestly don't have any first hand horror stories, but I've heard maybe 10 or 12. I don't think it's any cheaper to have it done there, so why not be safe and go somewhere else, right? good luck!
