Re: davids bridal
Ok I am an exception bc I planned my wedding in 9 weeks and I bought a dress off the rack that literally looked like it was made just for me! My experience with Gail at david's bridal in lake grove was AMAZING! She was late 40's early 50's maybe....she clearly loves her job and when I stepped outside to look in the mirror I cried and there she was crying with me! She put me in my absolute favorite dress last and sure enough none of the other dresses compared and I didn't need anymore dresses to try on! I will be sending her a thank you now that I got my pictures! I HTH!

Re: davids bridal
So I got my dress at Davids after trying on a ton of way more expensive dresses. I am not one of those girly girls who dreamed of her wedding dress, and I am definitely the type of person that likes just pulling stuff off racks and not answering to anyone, so Davids was perfect for me :) My mom and sis also tried on some dresses at the massapequa Davids, and they left us alone and let us do our thing and we had a great time.
THat being said, if you are looking for the whole 'experience', you might be a little disappointed in the service at Davids, but I thought it was way less of a pain in the butt than the other salons

Both my sister and I got our wedding gowns and bridal party gowns from the one in Massapequa. They have been outstanding.

I got my dress there & they told me it'll be in, in about 16 weeks, well it was in about 8weeks later. They told me it could be in that soon so make sure there was room in my closet. I think getting it a year before(that's what I did) is fine! Just in case you don't happen to find one that day at least you still have time. I am not getting my alterations done there, I am going to my FSIL's old coworker that has been a seamstress for over 25years. HTH

Ordering was really easy and the dress came in so quickly, I got it about a month later. Just be sure you check the dress over in detail before signing for it, I've heard of people having runs or small stains.
I am not having my alterations done there because they charge an arm and a leg. I am going to go to my own seamstress for those.

Re: davids bridal
They just didn't have what I was looking for style wise, so I purchased elsewhere.
My friends had issues with the alterations at many DBs, so I would recommend going elsewhere

Re: davids bridal
I went to Lake Grove and had a great experience there. But I agree with the others, if you are looking for a private, intimate experience, you won't get it there, since you do come out with the dress on in a more public setting.
I actually enjoyed it because there were other people there for the same reason and they gave great advice and opinions!

Re: davids bridal
I went dress shopping for the 1st time at the DB in Westbury this past Sat. and actually had a really nice experience. My sales associate Abi was really sweet and pulled all the dresses I asked for and got veils and accessories to dress up any gown that I liked for the full effect. My friend asked her to pull her favorite dress for me to try and it was really nice, in the top 2 of the ones for that day.

Re: davids bridal
I didn't look at David's for my wedding dress, but I did look for my bridesmaid dresses there. IMO, the quality of the fabric wasn't great. I wish it would've worked out because I was looking to keep costs down for my BMs.

I had a great experience at the massapequa location with Joan.
My MOH (who is also getting married) and I both got our dresses at DB and had Joan, she was unbelievable. Knew exactly which veil and slip went best with which dress. I ordered my dress at the end of November and it came in only three weeks later. Make sure you have some place to store it if you do order from there. Haven't had it altered yet but from everyone else I have heard from I will probably go somewhere else.
