Davids Bridal

Davids Bridal

Ok-so I have begun my search for BM DRESSES--I went to Davids just so we could pull stuff off the rack and try on dresses freely without someone bothering you every two seconds. I really love this one dress and the color is EXACTLY what I was looking for-BUT I just want to make sure that they are a reputable store to order from--we will not under any circumstances have any of the dresses altered there so that is not a factor--
also the lady told me the dress only takes about 8-10 weeks to come in--meanwhile my girlfriend just ordered dresses from there and they told her 6-7months

any feedback would be great--oh-by the way it's the one in Carle Place!

Re: Davids Bridal

I found their customer service to be lacking - especially when they were told that I was the MOH, not the bride. They were disgusting to my friend. I didn't have the alterations done there either.

The up-side - they're very affordable.

Re: Davids Bridal

Well, personally, I've only had good experiences with David's so far, but that's the one in MA, as for the different dates of the dress, it could have to do with the style. Some might be easier to get, etc... If you love the dress, then I would just go ahead and order it. I went to Davids just to get an idea and ended up finding my gown. I SWORE I would never get my gown there, but they were actually very pleasant and I just love my dress. I will not have them alter it though. I think that's where most people's issues are with them.

If you do not have the alterations done at the store that you buy the dress from, where do you go?

Around how much do alterations cost?

Thanks!

Re: Davids Bridal

I am getting my BM dresses from David's Bridals and not looking forward to it. How sad is that?!!

I have 4 BMs, 1 in FL, 1 in Washington, DC and 1 in Georgia. So this is the easiest thing for us, and my sister is here and we are going to get her dress altered by who every I using.

ETS - I am actually thinking of ordering all the dresses from the Altanta David's Bridal bec my BM who lives in Altanta say they are very good.

What do you all think about that idea?

Re: Davids Bridal

How come you are not looking forward to it peabody?

I think you are right when you say that most people's issues are with the alterations-there was a lady in there today freaking out! They totally ruined her daughter's flower girl dress!

As for the customer service-I also found it extremely lacking, BUT i also didn't expect any service at all. I know the reputation-which is fine because I wanted to be left alone anyway-but I did find a nice girl to help us. It's hit or miss.

As far as getting the alterations done elsewhere, my family uses a lady who works @ a bridal salon but does alterations out of her house for DIRT cheap on the side!

Re: Davids Bridal

endlessluv429, I was at David's Bridals with my MOH for her daughter's flower girl dress and they were so rude to her. I was in awe! They gave her such a hard time about her BM dress too. (My MOH's sister was getting married and she was a BM and her daughter was the FG). Just the rudeness of the sales people really surprised me.

If your seamstress takes other clients, can you please FM the contact info for your seamstress?

PS - I haven't heard form the manufacturer about my dress, I think I need to send another email

Re: Davids Bridal

I bought my wedding dress from the David's Bridal down by my mom in south jersey. I have had nothing but good experiences with them so far(knock on wood). I have only heard bad things about them in New York. My girlfriend bought her dress from the one in Brooklyn and they never bothered to call her and tell her it was in. It had been there for 2 weeks!

Re: Davids Bridal

I used to work at David's in Danbury, CT (my hometown), and was psyched to go back there for dress shopping. We walked in, they set me up with my consultant, who had trained me when I started there and whom I'd asked for especially, and she set me up with a slip, a bra, and the first dress.

She then promptly disappeared. I think I saw her once or twice the rest of the time I was there. I pulled my own dresses off the racks, and my MoH helped me into and out of them. Thankfully, I found my dress on the third attempt. If the sale hadn't been going on, and such a GOOD sale, I probably wouldn't have bought my dress. But I ended up buying my dress, and my mom's dress, and my BM dresses - well, putting in the pending form for them, but MoH bought hers.

I was very dissatisfied, but I kept on smiling and enjoying the joy in finding my wedding dress.

At checkout, however, my dress was mixed up with another dress of the same style, but eight sizes too small (another bride bought the same dress, and went home with mine). So I went home with a size 10. I returned the next day, expecting them to order me a new one. They refused, saying that they were just going to switch the dresses. I wasn't crazy about the idea, but I was willing to accept it. But 4 days later, when my dress was still sitting in a stranger's house, I called and raised hell. It was then that I complained about the lack of service when I was choosing a dress, and now the lack of service in them fixing the mistake they made. After quite a bit of arguing, they conceded to ordering me a new dress.

I am currently looking for a different place to have my alterations done.

I do not advocate for David's anymore. My dress and my girls dresses were not a mistake, but any weddings that I'm in in the future, I will tell the bride about my experience.

Just thought I'd throw that in.

Re: Davids Bridal

ahhhh---i'm so confused! That is the only place so far that i could find the exact color I wanted!! And they have like their own designs right? meaning, you can't even go onto netbride.com and order them? I don't care saving about the $$$, because they are cheap but the service might be better online!

Re: Davids Bridal

Did you try checking bridesave.com and see if they have the style # from David's?

Re: Davids Bridal

I got my dress and BM dress at David's in NJ. So far...it's been great. They told me my dress would come in around xmas...it came in early (last week). When I went to pick it up...I asked if my BM dress was in also. They checked and it did...they said they didn't call because they were waiting for the rest of them...but since I only had the one, it worked out find. I picked them both up.
