David's Bridal Alernation in Queens

Hi, ladies:

I read some posts regarding the alternation problem DB has, not feeling comfortable to bring my dress back to them now.

The branch I bought my dress from was in Queens, do you have any idea about the alternation service there at all?

If they also have a lot of problems, it will be greatly appreciated if you can let me know any other places with better service to go in Queens.

Thank you so much in advance!

I haven't heard many bad things about the alterations department in Queens but there is supposed to be an alterations lady their named Rula, who is suppose to be awesome. Also, a Davids just opened on 6th Ave in Manhattan. I don't think you are obligated to get you alterations from the store you purchased, so maybe you can check them out. Good Luck.

Re: David's Bridal Alernation in Queens

I purchased my dress in the DB Westbury and brought it to the DB in LIC for alterations.

My first fitting was on January 22nd. I needed the shoulders taken in and a bustle added. She was very uncoperative with the bustle, sayiong there was only one way to do it. Thankfully my FSIL was there and had to SHOW her what to do! She also tried convincing me my hips were too big and I needed to take the hips out. Both FSIL and I disagreed and didn't allow her to.

After my fitting she scheduled me to come back on February 11th at 5:30 p.m., an entire three weeks away. I had to get my shoes that were being dyed there first and the girl was so slow getting them (and they were dyed wrong!) so I get back to the alterations area about 5:40 p.m. Through a slit in the curtain I could see someone unzip a bag and start altering a dress. A feeling of dread came over me; I knew it was my dress. Turns out I was right. After having the dress for THREE WEEKS they were only staring it THEN! The seamstress asked if I could wait 45 minutes; I told her I couldn’t. I could wait 10-15; but not 45 minutes. So they bring the dress out 15 minutes later; it fits fine. Then she tried convincing me that my hips were to SMALL and I should take it in,

David's Bridal, both westbury and LIC, were big pain in the butts!!!!!!!!!!!

UGH
I'm so nervous now I have my first fitting on May 1st and I don't have any other alternatives for alterations. I figured I used them since I bought my dress from them and if they mess up they will replace it

I have a better experience. Yes they will tell you that you need a bigger size, or to let it out. or what ever, but bring someone with you who can give you an honest opinion on how the dress looks. I thought they did a great job and they were on time with my appointments. Very accommodating when I ran late or could not make it to one of my fittings.

I bought my dress in LI at DB but had it altered in Queens - please please please do NOT bring it there!! They really screwed up the alterations. The only reason I brought it there was b/c I was told that if DB screwed it up they would give us a duplicate gown. After they screwed up my alterations the first time I told them to get me a new gown they said they don't do that. So it really makes no sense to pay so much more to have it done at DB. HTH!
