David's Bridal Alterations

Has anyone used the Alterations Department in the Carle Place David's Bridal?

I would like to hear both good stories and nightmares.

Thanks

I know this is not what you're looking for, but I purchased my dress from a different David's and took it somewhere else for alterations...I just didn't trust them with all the horror stories I've heard.

I took my dress to Karin Yngvesdotter in Astoria. She's been fantastic to work with...and she's also changing the comb of my veil to a metal one because I broke all the plastic teeth.

Do a search. My sister had horror stories and at carl place and another one- she was planning from out of town so she went to one in pa, i went to carl place. Personally, I would NEVER use them or buy anything from them.

I bought my dress in Carle Place too and while I had a great experience there overall, I did NOT have my alterations done there. I had my done by Karin Yves (can't spell it) and she was AMAZING!!! I had a french bustle done and it stayed up with no problems all night long (my biggest fear was for it to fall down) I just didn't want to take any chances.

Betty! I just posted too that my alterations were also done by Karin Yngvesdotter!!! Didn't you just love her?!? She's also doing the french bustle for my dress...I took my friend along 2 weeks ago and she LOVED it!!!

She really was great. So nice and easy to work with. She has an eye for things. When I bought my dress, Davids kept telling me I needed to wear a crinoline slip under my dress b/c it was kind of going in between my legs when I would walk. I wasn't sitting right. I didn't want more crinoline b/c there was already a big crinoline slip under my dress. WELL, Karin realized that there was way too much to the slip (sewn in under my dress). The crinoline was about 3 sizes BIGGER than the actual dress, there was WAY too much there. She cut it all out and WALA, the dress fit perfectly!!!

I was so happy with her. I'm sure your dress is beautiful
Do you have a pic?

Sorry...no pics ...but maybe I'll have some soon and I could post em.

She's so great...I was even able to bring my dress to her sooner so she could hold it because she knew I was in an apartment and it was taking up so much space!

Re: David's Bridal Alterations

Honestly, I have heard way to many horror stories about their alterations department, for example, I have heard that they train their seamstresses on the job - not exactly what I wanted to hear, but I am glad that I knew it.... I personally would not want to be the dress they 'practice' on.

I would have gotten my dress there if I found one I liked, but alterations - no.
