I didn't have such a great experience buying my dress from them so there was no way I was goin to have them alter it.

I went to Phyllis @ Bridal Elegance.

Re: David's Bridal Alterations Question!

Two of my friends (who are now my BMs) got their dresses at Davids.

The first one took hers to her own seamstress because she wanted a lot of changes to the dress (add sleeves, change the bottom, etc etc).

The other one had her alterations done at David's Bridal (in Yonkers) and they did a great job; she didn't have any problems.

I've onyl heard horror stories from DB and they don't have a max charge, so they can charge you an arm and a leg. I found a lady in Staten Island who does them out of her house. She was recommended by a girl on LIW and by the lady I ordered my BM dresses from. If you feel like taking the treck to Staten Island, I'll FM you her info. She charges $150 (that's all alterations plus a bustle).

I bought my dress from David's, but I'm taking it elsewhere. I don't trust Davids. When my dress came in & I tried it on the length was perfect, but the consultant was INSISTING that I need to shorten it just a bit & that it needs to be taken in a ton. I went to another seamstress just to get an estimate of what she charged & she agreed that the length is perfect & it barely needs to be taken in on top. It sounds like Davids just wanted more money.

AHHH! I don't know what to do...I keep hearing such mixed things. I guess it is hit or miss.

I bought my dress at David's and got alterations done there. I had no problem with them and they didn't charge me much at all to take in the bodice, shorten the dress and bustle.

Me too, not a bad experience, but didn't trust them to do my alterations.

I got my dress from David's and would NEVER trust getting my alterations done there because of all the horror stories Ive heard. I took my dress to Phyllis and Bridal Elegance.

I purchased & altered my dress at Dvaid's. That was actually the ONLY department I didn't have issues with they were quick, polite, accurate...HTH
