Davids Bridal Brides...

So I picked up my dress yesterday..and I still love it ..yay... their alteration prices seem a little high...
I believe she said $95 for a hem...$50 for a 3 hook bustle..and not sure what for taking in the sides.. I have heard a few alteration horror stories involving Davids...so it makes me a little skeptical
to have them done there..but im also nervous about finding a great seamstress who isn't going to mess the dress up... what are you all doing as far as alterations?? TIA!..

I'm going to Ingrid's in Setauket. I've heard nothing but great things about them.

I wouldn't trust David's Bridal with my gown if it were free! My sister went there and they were nasty, slow, and if we asked for more than one change at a time (take off spaghetti straps, bring up hemline a bit) they ALWAYS forgot at least one thing. You have enough aggravation.

My friend just recently got married and she had her alterations done at DB. From what i hear the end result was good, but they were slow & expensive. I know that she had a lot of irritation with them. Personally, i was going to go thru them only if I couldn't find somebody else to do it. Luckily when my dress came in a week ago, it already fit PERFECT, so i don't need alterations anyhow.

But maybe you wanna find somebody else?? If not, it's not as though they do a BAD job with the dresses. They'll probably just cause you some unnecessary stress.

I have my alterations done there. I am due to pick up on 10.24.
For a hem & bustle including extra clips it came to around $160-
The lady didn't speak english well.....I think she was jamacian or something...but she was nice.

I wanted my alterations done there this way if something happens........they have to make it right.

DO NOT got to David's for alterations.

I used Christine's alterations in Levittown. She was great and reasonably priced. FM me for more info.

I had my alterations done at the Lake Grove store but I did not need major work done, only a hem, bustle and a halter strap adjustment. I don't think I would have used them if I needed major work done. The lady that worked on my dress was very nice and professional, even stayed past her shift one night to finish. She was the one who was the 'ball gown expert'. When I went there I only wanted to deal with her and she even told me she was personally going to work on my dress and not to worry. (the other ladies seemed to be trainees). it depends on what you want done to your dress, I would suggest them if you have little alterations.

I got my dress at the Davids Bridal on Old Country Road and had it altered there as well. I agree that they were pricey but were well worth it, because I had to have a lot of work done on the bottom of my dress.
