David's bridal brides that changed their minds on their dress...UPDATE
This is for you gals that purchased dresses from Davids that loved their dress then decided they HATED IT.
I have a dress I picked up last month after the 2nd ordering something just still seems just not right. I have come to hate my dress after looking at pics of me in it
OK here is the real question...... Did you return your dress? if so did they give you cash back or store credit? Or were you forced to keep the dress you hate and figure it out from there. I noticed my dress is now disscontinued, but there are soooooo many new dresses that are beautiful. I am hopefull that I will fing THE DRESS if actually given the time to decide what I really want.
Any answers or advice here is greatly appreciated TIA

Re: David's bridal brides that changed their minds on their dress...
I had originally purchased a dress from David's back in January when my wedding was going to be more informal and during the day. The dress was very plain and I liked it. I did not love it.
Then my wedding changed to night and I felt that I needed a dress with more. So I looked in the store and I found a dress that I loved. I went to a different David's location and I explained my situation to the store manager and she let me do a dress exchange as long as my original dress was in perfect condition and still has all the tags on it and I still had the receipt.
Not all stores will let you do this though.

Maybe you could try selling it?

i would sell it but the thing is i'm a big girl and i don't feel i will get anything near what i paid for it.
I feel as a bigger woman that other plus sized women are not going to want to pay full price for a dress thats not actually coming out of a store. I mean it is brand new still has the tags it's hanging in a closet I only put it on for a little bit in the store and took pics.
I think i was somewhat forced into just picking a dress to pick a dress and I look at pics of me in it now and I just HATE it

First I would speak to them and see if you can exchange it... mention LIWeddings maybe? They WANT good feedback on here...
If that doesn't work- try to sell it. You never know...
I bet you still paid less than for a designer gown so you might be able to rationalize getting another one.
HTH!

When I bought my dress there, I was told that I could only exchange it for the same dress in a different size (if I were to gain or lose weight), but not a different dress altogether

it's a store in buffalo not on LI so i don't think mentioning LIWeddings will help but i'm going to give a call tomorrow to see what I can do. I don't want to lug around this dress all over for no reason.

I agree they don't want negative remarks, and thousands of girls are on here everyday. If they won't accommodate you post it here...you never know. One girls nightmare may be anothers dream. Best of Luck

Re: David's bridal brides that changed their minds on their dress...
my fsil bought her gown from Davids Bridal in Carle Place, and apparently she said she lost a few dress sizes, so she brought the dress back and they did an exchange right then and there.
Yet, I heard a horror story of a girl who bought her dress while she was living in another state and ended up wanting to exchange the gown and without the original receipt they wouldn't help her at all even though it was in their computer system.
So, all in all, I want to say I'm sure they have some policy there in the store, but how helpful someone will be to you probably also depends on if you get a nicer person or not who is willing to take the time etc.

Re: David's bridal brides that changed their minds on their dress...UPDATE
THIS IS A VERY LONGGGGG POST JUST WANTED TO WARN YOU BEFORE YOU START READING
OK so I stop by FMIL's house I'm storing my dress there since FH would never think to look there So we chat for a bit she has me put it on to get one last feel of it to make sure I was making the right choice.
So I pack it back in the bag and go. I walk in and explain whats up with the dress This was the 2nd dress that was ordered of the same dress and there were still probs with this dress. I don't know if it was just that dress style or the if they never actually reordered and just 'fixed' it. Well anyway i show them the problem and they look and see that it is infact discontinued. So i was asked what i wanted to do. At this point I'm so pissed off about this dress don't want them giving it to this wack job in the alterations department to mess up some more. So I start looking through the racks to see what is still available. Then the mananger asks me to try on the dress with the longline bra(i didn't bring mine) she brings me one that it 2 sizes too small it was in the wrong bag (I didn't think to look at the tag on the bra itself I figured the tag on the bag was right.) The alterations lady from hell is trying to squeeze me into this bra..... Then has the B A L L S to say to me no wonder the dress isn't right in that spot the bra you got doesn't fit you anymore either(she looked at the size and went and got one that is now too big. OMG I am beyond pissedddddddddd so now i take it off and look at the tag myself and I notice it was the wrong size so now not only do I have one 2 sizes too small I have one that Is too big too. I went to bring it to her attention and she gives me a attitude that it's not her fault and to not get on her about them not fitting me and basically implied i got fatter just standing there Now the manager comes in(she is sweet as pie by the way the manager that is) I explain to her what the situation is since the alterations 'lady' is still going off the manager brings me the correct bra and i put the dress on to show them the problem with the dress... then this cranky old lady again butts in and says that she can let it out I am NOT going to have a dress let out when it was a defect in the dress not because i got fatter. I paid good money for a dress I expect it to be perfect. Now this dress can not be ordered since it is disscontinued and after 2 messed up dresses I reallyyyyyyy do not want this dress again anyway. So the manager gets me hooked up with the associate who has helped me a few times before. She is super nice and I explain how upset I am to go dress shopping AGAIN since I hate dress shopping. We started pulling dresses and looking through the latest catalog. I was looking for a particular kind of dress and it turns out they only carry 3 dresses that met my needs. 1 being the horror story dress this leaves only 2 more . At this point I have tried these both on before so i ask her opinion and i'm glad I did I'm very happy with the over all outcome of this situation that has been stressing me out for weeks . I need to find out this alteration lady's name and call corporate on this situation. This sort of crap is not at all justifiable or necessary in my eyes and horrible customer service.
WHEWWWW THAT WAS LONG BUT I NEEDED TO GET THAT OUT
