DAVIDS BRIDAL 'EXPERIENCE'

DAVIDS BRIDAL 'EXPERIENCE'

Well,

My mom and one of my brdesmaids came out to RI yesterday, so we went to begin trying on dresses at Davids Bridal out here in RI....

Well, they set you up in a dressing room with some shoes, slip and bra....well, this bra was 2 cup sizes too small...so I tell the lady and she says they do not have any other bigger ones in stock right now...so if you are not a 40 C, you are outta luck....so had to go with my own, which does not give 'the lift' you need to try this thing on...

ANyway, the place was packed....we had an appointment, our consultant was also helping 4 other girls at the same time, so it too almost 2 hours to tryu in 6 dresses...It was hottt in there...the ac was on, but three was tons of girls trying on huge dresses with huge slips that made you sweat....uugh

Did find one I really loved tho....it was the second one I tried on...but its just the beginning of the hunt for THAT DRESS, so will continue to keep looking for the time being...

Anywyas, thats my first experience so far with trying on dresses, and I can say I hope it is a quick and painless process...I hate dressing rooms, I hate standing in front of HUGE mirrors and they put the UGLIEST veils and Tiaras they had in the store on my head....uuugh...will definitely look elsewhere for that...

Thanks for listening Girls!!

Re: DAVIDS BRIDAL 'EXPERIENCE'

I went yesterday for a bridesmaid dress. It was horrible. There is a policy that says each style of dresss needs to be available in every size. This was definatly not the case. The girl helping us was rude and since she was no bigger than a size 6 she could not understand that I was a larger size. There were not mirrors in the dressing room so stepping out into a large mirrored room in a dress 2-3 sizes larger or smaller made me feel extremly vunerable. Thank god my FI was there that made me feel a bit better. I will definalty not return to davids bridal when I begin shopping for my wedding gown.

Sorry you had a bad experience!!! My SIL ordered her dress from there and she had a similar experience. She still ordered her dress there because she fell in love with the dress. When her dress came in it was the wrong color. I have heard other stories like this so when you order your dress just look over the order form before they send it in and make sure you tell them that your wedding date is a month before the actual date. This way you have plenty of time if something goes wrong. Davids has an excellent selection and the prices are reasonable. Good Luck!!

Re: DAVIDS BRIDAL 'EXPERIENCE'

I had the same problem when I went there to try dresses on, but since they make all there dresses and they are exclusive to Davids if you find one you love you have to use them. Of course I found my dress there. I think I only tried on about 5-7 dresses in total and thats it. I have to say when it came to fittings they were great. My dress fit perfect on my wedding day. So even though it was a hassel it was well worth it. Oh, any problems that arose they quickly fixed without a problem. Although you do not want problems at least they took care of it instead of ignoring me.

Holly, I'm sorry to hear your experience was not as good as mine! Did you go to the one in Attleboro? We were one of three groups of people in there on a Thursday, so we got impecable service. Who helped you? (If you went to the one in Attleboro) Oh, and what was the style number of the dress you liked? (I'm nosey!)

Re: DAVIDS BRIDAL 'EXPERIENCE'

Hi Rachel,.

I did not end up going to Attleboro simply because we were already going to be right in RI, so we thought it easier, because we were just kind of trying to look...when I do decide if it is THE ONE, will most definitely be going to Attleboro for trying on and ordering...Plus, sales tax there is only 5%, where in RI it is 7%--but every bit counts!!! The style number is 94283....but would most DEFINITELY get rid of that bow!! Its soo not me! haha...

My mom saw 1 plus size dress on the 99.00 rack but the lady never brought it to try on, so my mom brought it to me herself and I tried it on..it was very pretty, but not me....I specifically did not want to try anything strapless and this lady came with 2 different ones, I refused to try them on and then prance out there with all the size 4 girls...hell no!!!!!!

Anyway, this is just the beginning, but that one I think looked the prettiest on, and made me feel like a princess!!

Re: DAVIDS BRIDAL 'EXPERIENCE'

I'm sorry to hear about your problem there. I began shopping, and I first went to Princess bridals, which the women there were so unhelpful, and having me try on dresses they had picked out, NOT ME !!
I then went to davids bridal, on the way home from there, just to stop in and see what they had, I of course, fell in love with one there.. and I went to the one on Northern Blvd in Queens.
The woman was so helpful!!! She even did my hair really nicely too, for the headpeice and veil!
Although, I hear differnt things about it there I loved my dress, and it fits perfectly( with no alterations how scary was that?) I have it already I just have to bring it to get steamed about a month before my wedding that is in 8 months!!

Re: DAVIDS BRIDAL 'EXPERIENCE'

DAVID'S BRIDAL? WHAT A NIGHTMARE! MY FRIEND PICKED DRESSES FROM THE BAY RIDGE DAVID'S BRIDAL ON 86TH ST. THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! FIRST THEY ORDERED MY DRESS IN A SIZE TOO SMALL. THEN WHEN IT DIDN'T FIT, THE SALES REP GAVE ATTITUDE. SHE INSITED THAT I MADE THE ERROR. SECOND, WHEN IT CAME TIME TO PICK UP MY SHOES THAT WERE SUPPOSEDLY DYED,(I CAME A WEEK LATER THEN SCHEDULED TO PICK THEM UP), THEY COULDN'T FIND THEM. WHEN THEY DID, THEY HADN'T EVEN BEEN DYED YET. I WAITED BECAUSE THE WEDDING WAS 2 DAYS AWAY, THE DYE JOB WAS SO SLOPPY, THAT THE SHOES WERE ALL SMEARED. THE STAFF WAS RUDE. IT WAS ALWAYS TOO CROWDED, AND YOU NEVER GOT THE ATTENTION YOU SHOULD HAVE.

PLUS JUST EARLIER THIS MONTH THE NEWS WAS ALL OVER THAT SHOP BECAUSE THE PLACE WAS RIDDEN WITH FLEAS!! BRIDES AND EMPLOYEES HAD FLEA BITES ALL OVER THEM. CAN YOU BELEIVE THAT. I HAVE HEARD SO MANY HORROR STORIES ABOUT THEM, THAT I SWEAR I WOULDN'T GET MY DRESS OR MY BRIDAL PARTY DRESSES THERE IF THEY WERE GIVING THEM AWAY FOR FREE!!!!! ALSO THEY CALL IT A SUPPOSED SALE, BUT THEY ARE ALWAYS OFFERING THOSE $99 DRESSES, ON TV.. THEY ARE CLOSED TEMPORARILY TO EXTERMINATE THE PLACE, BUT AFTER SEEING THAT SHOP ALL OVER THE NEWS AND READING ABOUT IT IN THE PAPER, WHO WOULD WANT TO BUY THEIR DRESSES AT THAT STORE?

Re: DAVIDS BRIDAL 'EXPERIENCE'

NOT EVERYONE HAS HAD HORRIBLE EXPERIENCES AND PLEASE TRY TO SEE THAT SOME OF US HAD GOOD EXPERIENCES THERE. IT IS VERY UNFAIR TO SAY THINGS LIKE THAT WHEN SOME OF US FOUND THE GOWN OF OUR DREAMS THERE. IT IS A SHAME THAT EVERYONE CANNOT BE HAPPY FOR EACH OTHER AND RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE AND THEIR OWN EXPERIENCES
MAYBE NOT AT THE ONE ON 86TH BUT A DIFFERENT LOCATION

I had a good experience with them too, and I did get my dress there. I am a little nervous about the alterations (I go to pick it up in a week and a half) but overall they have been really good to me.

Re: DAVIDS BRIDAL 'EXPERIENCE'

I happened to Like the $99 dress they had!! It just did not look right on my body...but another budgeting bride will be THRILLED with it!! I wasjust turned off becasue they booked sooooo many people for the same time on Sat afternoon...maybe not all of them had appointments...I have no idea, plus the fact they did not have bras in my size 'in stock' was a bit of a turn-off.....If I do decide on that dress I tried on, will bring MY OWN Longline/whatever they call it Bra to have the next fitting...

Mattnnic---Glad you had a great experience and could buy it right then and there PERFECTLY! That is rare, ad must feel soooooooooo Awesome!!! I am just beginning my search, so I still have a little ways to go...want to try a few other designers, Alfred ANgelo being one of them...
