Re: David's Bridal for Alterations
i heard a lot of negative things about them. They're dresses are beautiful and they work really well with their clients, but when it comes to alterations I've heard a lot of brides tell me that they were overpriced and not all that.
A friend of mine who just got married this past July said that they did do a good job with her dress, but it took them way too long. They had her scheduled for a certain time, but weren't ready and made her wait around. And things just weren't worth all the money she paid. By the end it was nice though so it's not like they do a sloppy job.
That's just what I hear.

I got my dress too from David's and while I was happy with the service, I did catch a glimpse of the alteration fee table.. it seemed a little pricey.. if you have a good seamstress or tailor, I would definitely bring it there...

Re: David's Bridal for Alterations
Depends on which DB you go to. I bought the dress at the one in Long Island City, and loved the service for purchase and alterations, although a little price they work was well done.
I had to return becuase I wasnt satisfied with the intial look- I wanted to look like I had a small waist, the lady wanted me to be confortable, but I felt it still needed to be taken in. They gladly did it and were helpful. I paid $100 to have the sides taken in and the bustle done.
Hope it helps.
Also they press it for you, and if you take it somewhere else for alterations, they will not press it for you or replace it if someone screwes it up, if you do it with them and they mess up, they have to fix it.

I'M SOOO TORN!!!!!! Umm Well I really don't know of a good tailor....but I have time still to decide. Now they told me to go there 3 months before the wedding should I go like 4 or 5 since you guys say they take a long time sometimes ??

Re: David's Bridal for Alterations
I just spoke to my gf that got her dress and alterations done at DBs. She said that she didn't need much work done and they did a great job. So I guess it might be ok if you don't have a lot that needs to be done.

I would go at least 2 months. this way in case they screw up it can be fixed. Also keep in mind whether you are loosing, wanna loose, or think you will gain weight when deciding how long in advance to do it.
