I've already been to a few stores and I really like this dress that I found at Davids Bridal. I really don't want to buy the dress there and i'm trying to figure out where else I can get something similar if not the same. Anyone see anything at all like this in their search?
David's Bridal is not my pick for a gown, the Customer Service has never been the best any time that I've been there plus they won't make changes to the dress. I need some type of shawl or coat and they won't make to my specifications so i'd rather buy elsewhere.
I actually tried that on today. I love the train but it just didn't look right on me. The DB one I like seems to cut me better. It makes my proportions look good. This one made me look like I was pregnant.
I did see a dress online by Bonny that was kinda a combination of the two dresses but I think it might be discontinued, I don't see it on their website.
Thanks.

Re: Davids Bridal Gown Help
I got my dress from Davids and didn't want to go there for the same reasons, but I brought it to Phyllis at Bridal Elegance for alterations. I would talk to her about bringing in an outside dress and making a jacket to match. GL

I have a feeling I'm going to end up doing this, thats even what my mom said. She was soooooo cute last night. She's usually in bed by 10 and she called me at 11 all excited about some of the dresses she saw online. She's determined to find this exact dress elsewhere since we know that DB basically knocks off other designers.
For now I guess I'm just going to continue looking. I still have time. I still have 10 months which gives me time, At least if I order from Davids I know i'll probably have the dress in a month or less.
Do you know if she can make a jacket or would I have to buy a shawl or jacket elsewhere? I think someone said she's in Dix Hills, I can always stop by when I visit my parents since they live right in that area also.

Thanks for the suggestion. I called a few places and they don't have the Bonny Dress available. I just spoke to Phyliis, she said that Bonny has a 'loan' program and I can get the dress to try for $35. I'm not sure if I want to pay to try on a dress so we'll see. She was just so helpful that i'm probably going to go there next week with my mom.

Re: Davids Bridal Gown Help
I'm a little annoyed, after calling about 10 different stores in the LI/NYC area, I couldn't find the dress anywhere.
Several of the stores don't even carry the brand in the store anymore so obivously they don't update their webpage. How in the world can you find something then!
I decided to take them up on the 'loan' program, hey its only $35. Originally I spoke to Phyllis who said they could get the dress in my size, however when i called yesterday, they were like, no they just send what they have. Now i'm a little annoyed, I don't mind spending the extra money, but if they send a size 6 when I'm nowhere close to that, it will be a real dissapointment.

They usually send a 10/12, but at least you will be able to try it on. I remember pinching every penny, but 6 months later $35 is a drop in the bucket, especially if you get the dress of your dreams. If not just get the Davids dress, the last time I was there I saw jackets, little bolero ones. Is that the type of jacket you are looking for? GL!

Re: Davids Bridal Gown Help
Yeah but squeezing into a size 10 dress when you are an 18/20, i won't make it past my knees. They said they'd specifically request a plus size but they weren't sure.
I saw the bolero jackets at DB and tried it on with the dress. It looked pretty nice but I'm concerned that depending on the weather, it might be too warm. I was sweating like crazy between how heavy the dress was and the jacket. I was thinking that I might just want a shawl and have it pinned to the dress or something like that. Still time to figure it out.
