Davids Bridal...Opinions and suggestions needed.

I am interested in a dress a Davids Bridal in Westbury however i heard alot of nightmare stories about Davids Bridal and i'm wondering if people have bought there dresses there.

Also, how soon do they come in? I'm getting married in November, is it too soon to shop in Davids Bridal? Should i wait? Also, if you bought your dress there, did you use their alterations or did you use an outside alteration person, and if so who?

i have an appointment for the westbury location next month...the lady i spoke to on the phone was very sweet. she even warned me that the store is very busy on a weekend and that the bridal consultant may not be able to assist my every needs because they are shared between a few clients on the weekends.

i have heard mixed reviews also (but every vendor will have mixed reviews). i would probably suggest making an appointment as soon as possible. this way if you don't like any gowns at davids bridal you will still have time to go to another bridal store.

I went to Davids Bridal & when making my appointment I was also told about it being really busy on weekends. So with that being said I went during the week, I was there for about 3hours & the girl that helped me was so beyond nice & so helpful with EVERYTHING I needed!! I went 'looking' for dresses the end of sept. 2010 not thinking I would find my dress just yet & I did & HAD TO get it they told me it would be in, in approx. 16weeks I was like perfect!! It came in about 7 weeks later.. So now it's in my moms closet so FH doesn't see it in ours bc hes dyingggg to see it & probably would peek! lol

As for alterations I've heard more bad then good & that there is no cap on whatever you get done. I'm using a friend of my FSIL that has altered all her clothes & for others for about 20+ years.

*If you found a dress you love... I say GO FOR IT!!!

I'm getting married two days before you...I went to David's in LIC and fell in love. Ordered it in December, and was supposed to come in April. However, it came one week later.

I had a great experience. However, I am not trusting them with alterations, and going elsewhere.

The alterations dept at DB in LIC is awesome! I got my dress there and had them alter it. Had no problems- even had them change the back of the dress. I went for my first alteration 8 weeks before - 2nd 4 weeks before and picked it up a week before my wedding.

A hint when ordering from DB. Order 1 size lager then the size that they have you try on. I got my dress 3 weeks after I ordered it and it didnt even zip close. ( and it wasnt that I gained 20 lbs in 3 weeks) All the dresses there have been tried on so many times that they are stretched out. They dont measure you - they just go by size.

OMG!! I tried my dress on a week later when it came in, and it didn't zip all the way - the lady said - oh you're not wearing the right bra. What you said must be why!!! Thank god I've been loosing some weight lol

I got my dress at David's in Westbury. The consultants were great but they do get really busy on the weekends. I made my first appointment for a Thursday and it was fine. If you have to go on a weekend I recommend being the first appointment of the day. I have done that and it works too. I ordered my dress on 2/13 and they told me it would come in early May then they called me last Thursday to tell me it was in! I am going to get it this weekend.
I am not sure about the alterations yet. I am going to get a price from them and see.

im a big fan of DB... but you HAVE to go during the week... its a madhouse on the weekends unless you get there right as the store opens...

Great tips ladies...unfortunately i can only go on the wknd cause my MOH works weekdays and by the time she gets to me its late. But i'm thinking of shopping on my own too. I don't really mind.

in that case... i would browse all the dresses online and print out the ones you like the best...

the westbury store seemed to be the best location for me as far as how many people went to the store... it wasnt as packed as other stores...

I went to the store in Lake Grove on a Sunday and I had a good experience. It was not a madhouse and they did not rush me out of there. I did not end up finding my dress there but I had a good experience.
