I've been on the fence about this for quite some time. I don't know whether or not I should get one. I'm kinda worried that I am going to be running around like a chicken w/o its head on the day of the wedding, but at the same time my mom says it's a waste of money and that's what I have family for, to help out. Not for this to come out the wrong way, but I don't know if I can trust my family to help since a lot of them are in the BP and will be concerned with their own issues that day (entertaining OOT relatives, etc). I know what I want and how I want it (like specifically setting up the cardbox or decorating the place card table a certain way) and if I can't do it myself bc I'm busy doing other things, I want to have someone who I can trust do it for me right?
Now as I'm typing this I think I just decided that I do need to get a DOC. So, I guess with that said (sorry for the mini-rant!) if you guys can recommend a DOC that you know and LOVE and is reasonably priced, I'd really appreciate it. TYIA!!

Re: Day of Coordinator
Believe it or not DOC's are not as expensive as I thought. I have been seeing quotes for $250-$400 depending on what kind of service you want. I rather pay so that I can get some ease of mind on the big day.
I am pretty sure I will be using A Modern Day Affair because they have great reviews and some of the girls on here swear by them. I have a consultation with them next week so I can't really give you more info.

Re: Day of Coordinator
my family said the same thing. Its about $300 for someone for about 9 hours (one of the good LIW vendors) and I think it is 100% worth splurging.
$300 for peace of mind? SOLD lol

I was feeling exactly the same way. I was on the fence about a DOC and FH kept saying he didn't think it was necessary. I met with a couple and realized it was so worth the peace of mind and now I'm so glad I hired a DOC (Actually 2 - with A Modern Day Affair you get 2 DOCs for the price of one! - and it's NOT expensive at all) I am so happy that I did it - no more worries about everything being set up properly and running smoothly. And after I hired them and told FH, he realized it really was a great idea. Definitely do it!!!

ITA! I met with Laura from AMDA and I booked on the spot! She definitely made me (and my mother) feel at ease. I love how they offer 2 DOC's with both their packages so that one person can focus on what's going on around me while the other person can check on the reception hall and all the details (cardbox, pictures, plaque's, flowers, cake, etc).

Thanks you all for your help and responses. I am actually amazed at how many of you recommended A Modern Day Affair, which can only mean they're really awesome! I will look up the numbers of all of these companies and try to see which one will best suit me. I really appreciate all of your help!

Re: Day of Coordinator
I am also using A Modern Day Affair. I met one of my DOCs at another wedding, and without saying my name she knew exactly who I was- I thought that was pretty impressive! I hired them because I don't trust my FMIL and will need someone to make sure things are done they way I want them and not FMIL's way.

Re: Day of Coordinator
I didn't have one, but I went to a wedding who did, and I was kicking myself for not having one.
they were on top of EVERYTHING making sure the whole day was running smoothly.
thats the one major regret I have!

Re: Day of Coordinator
I was like you and I ended up booking one like 5 weeks before the wedding!
We used Christine at Piece of Cake Events and we loved her! She was awesome, and totally worth it. So glad we got a DOC!
