Are they necessary? I'm debating on wether the extra cost of hiring one is worth it, or if I should put that towards something else. Any input from you girls, especially Chateau Briand brides, would be a big help!

Day of coordinator? - Long Island Weddings
i dont think they are necessary- i think that if you have a good maitre d then you dont need it... also, if your venue is one wedding at a time, i really feel like it's not needed. In general, most of what a day of coordinator does for you is they call the vendors to verify that they are still coming, give out the tip envelopes for you, and will make sure your dress is bustled and stuff.. But i feel like I'd rather have my family help with that rather than a complete stranger lol
some people like it for the piece of mind, but I would rather just plan ahead and use that money on honeymoon excursions :)

Ty I feel the same way! My recently married friends got me a little nervous telling me all the stuff that could go wrong, and why a DOC would be a godsend.

Honestly I think our DOC was money well spent. We used Laura with A Modern Day Affair and let me tell you, she put my mind at ease about everything. I didn't want my family or friends worrying about anything, so Laura was perfect for us. Plus, I love my venue, but the maitre d and bridal attendant works for the venue, not you. Mine were very helpful, but I liked having someone who could do what I needed at all times, instead of worrying about going through someone else. DH was a little skeptical at first but he loved having Laura there because it made me so calm!

It's not necessary but it's definitely nice to have. Offers peace of mind. More a luxury than a necessity

This x1000. Laura is amazing and worth more than what we paid her!

I wasn't sure either, but at the end of the day we booked with Once Upon an Event and Kristyn was AMAZING. Their prices are phenomenal for the peace of mind...but she was so much more than that. She kept me dry when we took pictures outside, she steamed my dress when it got wrinkled, she re-curled my hair when the rain caused my curls to fall out...she was a calming and welcome presence all day!! I highly recommend getting a DOC - and Once Upon an Event is fantastic!!

This exactly. I really don't think its necessary for me personally. I'm not sue how much they cost but it just seems like an added expense that I really don't need.

Laura made our day run smoothly. Even though I had moms, sisters and BMs more than happy to help out, on the day of there was just too much going one for people in the party to manage. She was well worth the money x10000. I am so glad we had her and highly recommend it

We got a good price and did a package deal where we got a Photo Booth and a DOC. While they were helpful, i could have done without the DOC. In hindsight I would have saved the money or spent it on a better Photo Booth instead of the package with both.

Day of coordinator?
I just spoke to my banquet manager about this yesterday. She told me the DOC is a total waste of money. They usually end up sitting in the corner eating LOL... I trusted her and scrapped the small budget I had for one. However, as I am looking into adding floating candles and votive candles to my table decor, I am wondering if the Maitre'D and/or bridal attendants will set those up for me. I definitely don't want any of my family/friends arriving early to do it, nor do I want to pay hundreds of dollars for a DOC to take care of it. Does anyone know if the bridal attendants/maitre'D usually helps with this kind of setup?

Day of coordinator?
I think its nice to have one. Im using Simone from Coordinated to Perfection. She is sweet and will work with your budget. I have her for partial wedding planning and DOC but I think its more important for the day of so you and your family can relax and enjoy. Of course the catering hall is gonna say you dont need one because in my opinion they prob dont want someone watching them. I want someone who understands wedding inside and out to keep everything organized and make sure what I pay for is there. Especially everything in the catering hall since it is my largest expense of the entire wedding. The way I look at is the DOC works for you, the Maitre D works for the catering hall... If something is missing that the catering hall was suppose to provide, will the Maitre D really tell you as oppose to hoping you dont notice in all the mix of things going on?
