I'm looking to hire a Day of Coordinator and I'm meeting with one this weekend for the first time.
Any ideas:
- what kind of questions I should be asking - what services I should be requesting, and - what should I be expecting them to charge (so I can negotiate)?
Also, I'd love any DOC recommendations from anyone who's been thrilled with theirs (you can FM me their contact info).

Re: Day of Coordinators
I'm using Rosalie (she's a vendor on here) and she's really great. Very nice and will be as involved as much or little as you want. She's given me good suggestions for a few things so far as well.
The way i look at it is you want someone who is going to take care of the little things for you on that day, so you want someone who you trust and feel comfortable with. If you meet with someone and you find they're receptive to what you want, give you suggestions and you click with them - then you can rest assured that they'll be there for you.
Make sure to get references and call those people to ask them their opinions.
If you want to know her price for DOC, FM me.

I am using her too. I didn't have anything prepared for my first visit and she told me everything!! She does more than I ever expected and brought up things I never thought of.

I also hired Rosalie, so far shes been great, she keeps in touch to see if theres anything I need along the way, I hired her mainly to cover all the small details the day of the wedding and deal with any problems or questions that come up that day.

Wow! Lot's of Rosalie fans out there. It's funny, because she's actually who I'm meeting with this weekend! Maybe I've got my work cut out for me. Thanks so much for all the responses. Keep 'em coming!

Re: Day of Coordinators
Thanks to everyone!
This is one of the toughest decisions of the wedding.
My mom, FH, and even my BMs have all assured me that I don't need to hire someone -- they keep saying 'that's what we're here for!' I love them all, but really? I don't think so! I've been a BM and stood around while the Bride getting dressed, was on the phone with one vendor, and was writing down instructions for another.
I just don't want that to be me!

Re: Day of Coordinators
My big problem with asking a friend or family member to do stuff like that is that i would rather them enjoy themselves than have to worry about things.

this is how I felt too, besides IMO its easier to give all the responsibilites to one person and make them accountable than confirm with a dozen different people that day.

Re: Day of Coordinators
I am using Rosalie too! I spoke with several DOC and she was a great personality match and she offered the best package IMO. For instance, some DOC only work 7 to 8 hours the day of your wedding. Also, she will come to the RD to meet all of the important people (this helps with photos and dances etc.). Since we have met I have receievd either an individual or group email by her every week and she has made great recs.
