Day of Pictures - did you have family pics? Past brides
Since I am doing photographs prior to the ceremony did any of you do family pics? Like I look at my brothers wedding pics and we had portraits done of each side of the family but like multiple shots.
Like bro's family (parents and me) then another shot of all of us and my fathers parents then all of us and my mother parents and then a family shot of the uncles and aunts with my bro and sister in law.
Do people really do that anymore?
I was thinking just taking one big whole group shot or maybe just one whole shot of my side of the family with fh and i and one whole shot of his family with us.
Just need to plan timing for the family.
Also how early did you ask your family to come to take these pics for the girls who did it before hand? a hour before the ceremony or a half hour?

I am planning on having these taken. If nothing else but to have professional pics of family members that may not be with us forever. Sounds morbid, but I know we don't have a lot of great shots of FH's grandparents. Since I don't have any grandparents left, I know that he will want the memory of them after they have passed.

We did these family shots right after the ceremony, before the CH. We did pics with the parents and grandparents of each side of the family. Not the aunts and uncles though.

We took pics before hand and we did family pics. Our ceremony started at 12:30. DH, bridal party and I met up at 10:00 for pics.
The rest of the immediate family showed up around between 10:30 and 11:00.
We did not do portraits with aunts and uncles.

We did pictures with my family (immediate and grandparents) before the ceremony (they were all there when photographer came an hour and half before ceremony) and pictures with DH's family after the ceremony and a few more with mine with other family members (about an hour after ceremony--since we had time before reception)

I had them taken by the photographers after the ceremony. Since both sides of our family is relatively small, it took maybe 15-20 minutes the most. The reason we saved so much on time was because we told them to stick around the ceremony room (in the Reception hall) for pictures. We just went a family at a time.

at my MOH's wedding, she didn't have these done, and now wishes that she did...certain relatives have passed since then, and she wishes she had more photos of them.

before the ceremony, the only people we took pics of were our parents, my grandma, my brother, the bp and us.
for other relatives, i made sure that during the reception, the photog took pics.

Yea i think i am going to take a whole family portrait for each side of the family right after the ceremony> its only two big pictures so i can't see it taking that long.

We took alot of family pictures. I treasure them all! It is worth the extra time before the reception (or whenever you plan on doing picture time) IMO.

Ours families get together so infrequently we definitely want family pics taken. It's hard to get everyone together so we want to take advantage while we have them.

Okay - makes sense. FH isn't close to his family he actually only talks to one sister (fh's parents are dead) so he isn't close to his other family. I will push to take more family pics.
