ok we have 2 hours between the ceremony and cocktail hour and we will be taking pics during.
FH says the bparty should go back to the hotel when we are done taking photos and we will meet them there (we have a trolley for everyone in the bparty and their dates)
I thought they would stay with us the whole time we took photos.
what's the norm?
thanks!

Re: day of timeline
we had a gap inbetween our church ceremony and cocktail hour. the bridal party all stayed together and we took photos as a group and then hubby and i took photos. they just walked around or went to the bridal suite. the time goes fast so i wouldnt have them go back to the hotel!

Re: day of timeline
well the place we are having the ceremony, doesn't have a bridal suite and we have to go to the hotel in between the ceremony and reception to pick up their dates.... but we are wondering if it is normal for them to stand around for an hour or so while we take pictures alone.

The BP should go with you...they'll be needed for some of the formal pictures.

I think it would be a little odd to pick up the dates and have them stand around and watch the BP take pictures. I would get all the pictures done and then go pick up the BP's dates. If you are taking a few with just you and FI at the reception site you could get dropped there while the limo goes to pick up the others if you want, maybe this is what FI wants so you can be alone for a few minutes before the craziness starts?

Re: day of timeline
sorry this is confusing....
we are going to be in a car alone.
the BP is going to be in a trolley, we got the trolley instead of a shuttle bc we have OOT guests and BP guests who won't have to worry about driving to and from the reception. so the idea was always ceremony, pictures, hotel stop, reception, hotel after party.
FH is suggesting after the ceremony we take photos with the BP first for like 30 minutes and then send them on their way while we continue our photos alone.
I thought they would just stay with us for the hour and half or however long it takes.

Sounds like you should get a DOC to keep things running smoothly and on track!!
They're inexpensive and a great help and they tell everyone where to be and when as well as round up everyone and make sure everyone's present and where they should be while keeping you on schedule.

Re: day of timeline
The wedding I was recently in the photog took the pics of the bride with just the girls and bride with each individual girl before the ceremony and then the ones of the groom with the guys and groom with each individual guy after the ceremony then a few shots of the entire BP. That was it. After that it was just the bride and groom so the BP did their own thing. I wouldn't make then hang around once you get their pics out of the way unless some of them are family and need to be in family shots.

Re: day of timeline
yeah, i guess its hard to explain through the boards... we are doing things a little more uniquely and aren't really having the 'typical' LI wedding
i was more asking what everyone does at the typical wedding bc we've been in bparty that stays with the couple and ones where we were in a bridal suite for most of the break.
thanks anyway

Re: day of timeline
I was just at a wedding yesterday in which I was part of the bridal party, and let me tell you, that 2 hours fills up pretty damn quickly with pictures and transportation
