John took a day off next Friday.. We've been to Greenport and loved it, and we've been to Southhampton Village and loved it (all great suggestions of my LIW gals!) So what other villages are nice out here ? Ive heard Sayville has a nice village, any other places? Just to walk around shop a little, enjoy the day together, me and my little family, my boys anything for us 'to do' would be a plus.
Should we do a lunch cruise with the baby?
Thanks!

Re: DAY OUT type places ? around Suffolk
Port Jefferson, Port Washington, Huntington, and Cold Spring Harbor all have great 'Main St.' sections... lots of fun shops and cafes! If you go to Huntington you can shoot up to Caumsett Park for a picnic! It's my favorite park on Long Island.

I like the picnic at a park idea! I agree that Caumsett is beautiful!
At Blydenburgh Park you can rent boats for an hour or 2, but I'm not sure if Caumsett has that as well.

Port Jeff - I love it. I live 2 mins away so we go there a lot. It has great stores and places to eat.

Anna, PJ also has 'Rocketship Park' which is a small playground off of Barnum in the parking lot area behind the stores on the west side of main street. Might be fun for your little guy. :)
PJ is great - the water views, the ice cream store (Frigate - yum!) - kid friendly places to eat (pizza places + Village Way). Plus lots of great little stores....
Enjoy!

Sag Harbor has a wonderful whaling museum as well as a beautiful shopping area. It's right on the water too and you can pretty much do it all walking.

Re: DAY OUT type places ? around Suffolk
if you choose pt jeff....nd want mexican - go to salsa salsa - they are the best!!! (and right in pt!)
I'm biased towards Northport and Huntington, since I grew up between the two...but what about Montauk...DH and I just love it there...we used to go there every year for the day (sandwiches for lunch) and then we spent 3 days there after our wedding...
there is a village/main st area there too

I agree with Sag Harbor and Pt. Jeff. East Hampton and Montauk are also nice if you want to drive a little further.

Re: DAY OUT type places ? around Suffolk
Thanks for all the ideas girls. IVe been to PJ, Huntington and Northport, so maybe we'll see something different. Sag Harbor is sounding nice As far as Montauk, Im afraid it would take us WAYYYY too long. Having a baby in the car in bad traffic is no fun There is traffic going towards Monauk EVERY DAY lately! Even when Im going to class on Tuesday nites, it is bumper to bumper (Thank God I have to BYPASS the 27 East Exit ) So maybe in the fall
Hmmm, ok, I'll think of some of the great ideas. We've done the rental boats at Blydenburgh, its so much fun, but we cant really do that or kayaking with the little one along. That park in Huntington is the one with the little pond/lake whatever, lol. Its GORGEOUS!
