Daybeds

Daybeds

Anyone know a good place to buy daybed bedding? I have looked online but my options seem very limited - all sites I found pretty much have the same old stuff.

I am looking for something simple but nice. Not really flowery. Also, the room is a burnt orange color...so needs to match that - don't really want white.

Any suggestions?

Re: Daybeds

Question: Alot of those daybed covers look like twin comforters and with shams placed sideways. What makes them specifically 'daybed covers'? My Mom has a daybed and has been trying to find covers (thanks for the links Christine) and Im curious.
Thanks

I think the daybed covers are only 3 sided - so that the section up against the wall is flush? (because it's more decoration than functional?)
Not sure though.....there may not be any difference at all!

Re: Daybeds

I have a day bed at my parents house. Its hard enough finding a comforter I like, I dont even try looking for a daybed comforter. What I do is fold the extra under and then line the back part with pillows, you would never know the difference!

Good Luck!

Re: Daybeds

Some daybed covers are three sided and some are 4 sided - I read that somewhere online in my search.

I tired putting a full sized comforter on the bed and using that and it was too short length-wise and too long width-wise - if that makes sense. What I think is going to make the difference is that the daybed cover will come longer on the ends so that at least three sides of the bed are totally covered. The only part that won't will face the wall...not sure if I am making sense...Basically I have a single bed that I want to use as a bed and an inviting place to sit. I just haven't been fiinding any daybed covers that match my style - many are frilly and flowery.

Kelly- how do you work that with a regular comforter?

Thanks girls for the suggestions. I tried JC Penny over the weekend and no luck (2 of them too!). Christine - thanks for the links - I had already found a couple but one was new - it had one I kind of liked but don't think it will match the color of the room....

Re: Daybeds

I just buy a regular twin size comforter and then I just fold the extra fabric under against the side frame. I can tuck the ends in between the matress and frame so you cant see it at all. Then as I said I put pillows agains the back and you dont even notice that the extra fabric is tucked under.
This is close to my bed except in gold.
Actually what might be the difference which I didnt think of is that my bed is against the wall on one side so I dont cover it on that end! SOrry!

Thanks Kelly - I have to look again because my problem was the comforter wasn't long enough to go over the sides ... I have to try again and measure - because I would love to use a regualr comforter - I would have so many more choices...

I found this site - if you scroll down to the elite designers some are more plain and would match - not 100% what I am looking for but it may work.

Re: Daybeds

Denise - you may have trouble finding one you like (I guess you already are!) I used to work at a linen's store back in college.....Only because daybeds aren't too popular right now, and any store that does carry them only carry the basics or frilly patterns.

I'd think you could just get away with buying a twin comforter or coverlet (thinner than a comforter) and take up the whole side against the wall with decorative pillows to distingish it from a daybed rather than spare bedroom bed.

HTH!
