Are any of you having MOB or MOG dress in something thats a bit glitz and glam even though its an afternoon wedding?
My mom has this gown that she wanted to wear for my wedding, but i thought it was too much for an afternoon so she was going to wear it to my cousins nighttime wedding instead. Well, she decided not to so now I'm toying with the diea of having her wear the original glittery dress bc she loves it so much.. What to do?

Re: Daytime wedding girls
My cousin had an afternoon wedding last october. both MOG and MOB, wore gowns that you would normally see at a evening wedding.
I think it all depends on what you are going for, if you want everyone to dress casually then I wouldnt have your mom dressed to the nines. But if you are still looking to have a formal reception, then by all means have her wear the dress. What is most important is that she is comfortable.
I'm having a daytime wedding and I told my mom that I would prefer her to wear a long gown and not a short cocktail type dress. She was fine with that as long as FH mom was doing the same.

Re: Daytime wedding girls
My mom isn't wearing a very formal gown but I think it's fine if the MOB or MOG dress formal, even at a daytime wedding. It is their child getting married so it makes sense that they would wear something a little more formal and a little more 'evening wear-like' than others. FMIL said she got a pretty fancy dress for FBIL's daytime wedding. Initially, she said she didn't want a dress like that for a daytime wedding but she loved it when she tried it on and she felt great in it so she wore it!

I'd say that if your mom wants to wear the gown, then let her.
I know my mom plans on buying a black tie gown for my wedding.
Moms want to feel special on their daughter's wedding day...I say, let them!

My mom hasn't bought her dress yet but i'm sure it will be something fancy. She only gets to be the MOB once. Our wedding is also during the day but we're putting 'formal' on the invites. Not necessarly tux's but not khaki's and a button down shirt. Are your bm's wearing somehting formal or casual?

my mom and FMIL wore long evening gowns but nothing hugely dramatic. My BMs also wore long gowns.

there is no logical, scientific, real, legimatie, reason...
why an afternoon wedding should be considered anything less, than an evening wedding....
so let her wear the dress!!!! a wedding is a wedding
whether it is an afternoon, evening, thursday, december, friday, whatever...
i get passionate about this because i am having a day wedding and people keep saying, dont do this, you can't do thatits a day wedding....
blah blah... it is bs to me!!!!
sorry for the impromptu vent
i hope i didnt offend you

Re: Daytime wedding girls
My mom was worried about her dress being too glam and overshadowing me. But I told her I want to look really dressed up and beautiful! She's the mother of the bride. She should look as beautiful as the bride. Even though we're having an afternoon wedding, I keep telling guests who ask that we're expecting ppl to wear formal attire. It's just like any wedding except earlier in the day in our point of view.

I totally agree with you. When it comes to wedding , I don't think date/time whatever! should affect attire. It's a CELEBRATION!!!! DRESS ACCORDINGLY

Re: Daytime wedding girls
MOB and MOG havent picked out anything yet but I know both will be getting something VERY nice and formal. FH is an only child so his mom has to do it up and Im the first getting married so my mom has to as well.
I think as long as they wear something that suits them and makes them feel amazing then go for it.
For my BP, my MOH (my older sis) is wearing the long gown and my BM (yep right now it has dropped down to 1 ) is wearing the cute cocktail length but both in chiffon which are awesome.
Any ideas about MOB/MOG color schemes? Should they be going along with BP or can they be different but complimenting colors?

I would say it's a wedding regardless of the time. And she should be sparkly, fun and fancy!
