daytime wedding - where to get ready day of (longish, sorry)
My wedding starts at 11:30am. FH and I live in Philly (almost 4 hours away from the RH), my mother lives in Brooklyn (2 hours away from the RH) and FMIL lives in Huntington (about an hour away from the RH). How does getting ready work? Do I stay in a hotel near the RH the night before and get ready there in the morning? Or do I just use my folks' place in Brooklyn? It seems so pointless to hire LI vendors like hair, makeup and photography, have them travel to Brooklyn for the 'getting ready' period and then back to LI for the wedding. But I know a lot of photos are taken while you're getting ready and I'm reluctant to have them taken in a place like a hotel that has never had any significance in my life. Thoughts/opinions??? TIA

do they have a bridal suite? since it's in the morning and you don't have to worry about running into another bride's time slot, you might be able to do it there.

i would get ready closer to the hall, your gonna lose the excited momentum of the day making a 2 hr drive out there, and what if there is traffic or a car accident on the parkway? it could put a HUGE dent in your schedule......it doesnt matter where you get ready, as along as your family is BP is around you everything will be perfect!

they do! it's actually quite big and there's a HUGE vanity mirror. ALSO, we have access to it at least 3 hours before the wedding. that might work, i just wasn't sure if it was typical to get ready someplace that isn't significant to you in some way (like the house you grew up in or maybe your own home). thanks for the suggestion!!

I would get a hotel room in the area and just get ready there in the morning. Its just easier to have them all stay in long island to do everything, all that traveling is a waste of time and plus you can never predict traffic.

If you can get access to the bridal suite, then definitely do it there. And it does have significance...its the place where you are going to be married!

You will need to get up really early if you get ready in brooklyn, but if its significant to you then it may be worth it.
Our ceremony is at 12 and I am getting hair and makeup done at my house but its only 1/2 hour from the RH. I a not putting my dress on unti i get to the bridal suite at the RH though.

I would stay at a hotel the night before. You are going to be crazy if you have to worry about a 2 or 4 hour drive on top of getting ready and the normal wedding day stresses.

I would definitely stay in a hotel nearby the night before. I am not a morning person, and would not want to be going crazy travelling on top of getting ready in the am.

you guys are totally right - it would be so stressful to be a couple of hours away from the RH and have to worry about getting there once we're ready! i think i'll stay in a hotel nearby, get ready there in the morning, and put my dress on in the bridal suite. the bridal suite is such a blessing because it's HUGE, has a great vanity mirror and good lighting, and we have access to it at least 3 hours beforehand.
thanks ladies! i can always count on LIW to put things into perspective LOLLLL
