A friend of mine is moving to DC in the next few weeks (she's currently teaching/travelling in Kenya and won't be back in the US until the 17th). She'll be starting school on the 22nd and has only a week to find an apartment.
any resources you can share? Since she'll be a student, she needs an inexpensive place (if such a thing exists)
thanks!

Re: DC girls - apartment help
Ouch - only a week to find an apartment? Hmmm.. that could be tough. Where is she going to school?
I'd say the best bet if she's in a pinch like that is to go to the Washington Post online and look through ads for roomates. Or, a friend of mine and her roomate are looking for one more girl to share their townhouse. They live in Sterling.
Let me know if you need any more help!

Re: DC girls - apartment help
thanks Annie! She'll be at American.
I know she wants to live alone, but I don't think she'll be able to afford it. I've passed this info on to her.

Re: DC girls - apartment help
there's tons of online sites that might help like apartments.com etc... at least she can get an idea of what places cost and are like before wasting time driving around and talking to people. any idea what area she wants to live in? i might be able to suggest some nice buildings.

Re: DC girls - apartment help
also, tell her to check out the various university websites - many of them have apartment referrals. that is how FH found his first apt in DC. check out american (obviously), george washington, georgetown, and catholic. wish her the best of luck!!
