I am considering doing my reception at de seversky mansion. We will be inviting 130-140 guests. Unsure if we are doing traditional or european style. I am worried that the dancing area is too small! Does anyone have any experience there? Advice please!

I;m not very familiar with de seversky, but if you are invited 130-140, I would only expect about 100 or so.

Re: de seversky? ballroom too small?
I didnt see this post or I would have responded here ... Their main ballroom can hold up to 150. I personally think the room is way too small for that! We had 120 guests and in my mind I was comfortable with no more than 130 guests. We did as many tables of 12 as we could to cut down the tables taking up too much room. Our dance floor was busy all night and no one stayed seated 'because there was no room.' They just werent fun ha ha! I wouldnt do European personally. There is something about traditionally eating and dancing in the same room. I guess it depends on your guest list but some people just like to watch. Those guests will be more apt to leave if dancing is going on in one room while they sit in another. Just my opinion though!

Thanks for your input, we are big dancers and that was a concern, that we would have enough space. How was the temperature in the room with the dancing? Was it pretty comfortable, I was reading that it gets very hot in there.

Re: de seversky? ballroom too small?
we just got married and did european and people LOVED the set up. they were even asking if we were going to o upstairs at one point in the night and i said to stay out of my bridal suite!
I was worried about the transitioning part but between my docs and maitre d, it was smooth and they add half an hour to the european style to offset the transitioning time. Plus I liked that it was different.
A lot of the younger crowd loved this set up since they didn't feel ogled by the older folk who like to sit and chat. They were able to do this in the dining room which was where the photo booth was and guests were in between the glass room & dining room all night.
I didn't feel like it was too hot or too crowded but I guess if you have A LOT of young people who love to dance, then maybe body heat plays a factor. good luck

Re: de seversky? ballroom too small?
I'm getting married there Sept 1 2012. I guaranteed them 175, but will most likely have at least 200. We are doing European as well with dinner in the room to the left and the garden room, and then dancing in the darker ballroom to the right when you walk in. They have assured us it will fit and they do it all the time. Has anyone ever been to a wedding there of this size?

200 guests in the ballroom? There is a sign somewhere if I am not mistaken that says at capacity it is 148ish. I mean without tables in there there is a lot of room.

I went to a wedding there a few weeks ago. The ballroom is not huge, I say 120 would be comfortable, more then that is pushing it imo. The food was fantastic btw.

200 without tables. dinner will be in the room on the left and dancing (with only some small cocktail tables) will be in there

Re: de seversky? ballroom too small?
What rooms are you having dinner in? The room in the back towards the glass house? Typically if you do dinner/dancing in seperate rooms they do dinner in the ballroom and dancing in the glasshouse. Make sure you have it down right. As the above poster said and even me from my own wedding, my 120 person wedding was perfect for the room. It was a magic number for us. Speak to Roger and Damien!

Yea...they said that because of my size they are doing it backwards. So dinner will be spread out between the glass room and the room it is attached to. A little odd with the wall in the middle, but everything else is perfect! We also ordered a drapery and lighting package from them which will cover the walls in that dinner room in white drapes and then uplight them the way we like.

Re: de seversky? ballroom too small?
Hi everyone I am planning my wedding for June 2014 and fell in love with the de seversky mansion. My fiance is concerned that the ballroom will be too small for dinner and dancing for 120 people. Can someone who has had a similar wedding let me know your thoughts? Also if you have any pictures you could share of your party I would really appreciate it!!

de seversky? ballroom too small?
I went to a wedding last year at the de seversky mansion (i fell in love also; ) and they had 125 people. There was def enough room in the ballroom for dinner. We moved to the glass room for the dancing part. Depending on your crowd of dancers, it could be tight. But most older family members sat for dessert leaving some space on the dance floor. It worked out fine. I'm def considering the mansion. My FH and I loved the movement and change of scenery from room to room.

According to your profile, your wedding is this August. The only 3 posts you have written are bashing de Seversky- a little suspicious.
