Is it customary to give your priest / deacon / officiant a Thank you gift? I don't think you are supposed to tip them..right? Thanks!

Re: Deacon or Priest Gift
We actually discussed this in precana and our leader has a good friend that is a priest so she gave him a call to clarify.
His answer was -- he loves getting thank you cards with the pictures after the wedding, but a monetary thank you is always appreciated.

Re: Deacon or Priest Gift
In Greek Orthodox churches, it's customary to give a tip to the priest. If they don't want to keep the money, they can always donate it to the church.

Re: Deacon or Priest Gift
For my sister's wedding we tipped the priest even though he was friend of the bride and groom. Additionally, when it comes to baptisms we have also tipped the priest.
Most priests are very appreciative of those that give them gifts. You have to remember it is not like they are rolling in dough. They can either keep it or give it to the church or they give it as a donation to their local outreach program.
For the deacon if you know what they like or if they have a hobby, a small gift would be nice. Deacons have (usually) a job outside of the church so perhaps money is not the best gift to give.
