Dealing with a.............(its for the girls)

......... UTI! So I went to the docs again for some meds because once again I have one.
I was told to see a specialist who can maybe determine why I get them so often.
Anyone out there have this problem?
I cant keep taking antibiotics for this and they seem to be more painful everytime

TIA!

About 10 years ago, I was having the same problem. I was constantly getting UTIs. My doc told me to drink a lot of water and to urinate after sex. It worked for me because I haven't had one since.

All I can say is that I used to have CHRONIC UTI’s. It was so bad they finally just put me on Macrobid with a six month prescription. I was supposed to see a urologist.

I had them so often I would go in to the doctor and get a ‘test’ and they’d say “Positive”, call my pharmacy and fill the ‘script. Then 7 days later go back and I’d come back ‘clean’. Wait seven more days and come back for follow up and be “positive” again. Every time I was on the meds I felt pain. Every time I was off, I felt fine comparably. This happened so much they put me on a long term drug.

I never got the chance to see the urologist. Instead I had a severe kidney infection that according to the doctor could have resulted in kidney failure. It seems I was A-symptomatic. Apparently I never realized I was having a kidney infection, but the UTI’s were warning signs. I was four weeks into a kidney infection before my body finally started to shut down. I couldn’t take a deep breathe or sit without getting dizzy. I started feeling woozy and very headachy. My fever wouldn’t go down and I couldn’t sleep due to the fever and headaches. I didn’t eat and didn’t drink. Could barely move, but thought I was just ‘sick’. I had the chills but I was hot and I was sleepy but couldn’t sleep.

The next morning I went to the doctor thinking I had the flu and ended up with an IV stuck in me for 3 hours!!

Once I got all fixed up with my Kidney Infection I have never had chronic UTI’s again.

I was, obviously, an extreme case and an unusual one.

Go see your urologist and you’re just gonna have to bear down on those pains you get while taking the drugs that are supposed to make you better. It bites but it’s better than getting REALLY sick. At least I can tell you is, you’re not the only one who got pains while taking the antibiotics for UTIs.

Good luck!

I get them all the time...i've tried everything (although I haven't gone to a urologist yet). Last time I had one my coworker suggested AZO and over the counter med, but the symptoms went away for two days and came back. It just ***** b/c every time i have one and they put my on antibiotics i get a yeast infection. Last time i went to the doc he mentioned something about putting me on a long term antibiotic which should clear it up. who knows...but i feel your pain. they suck.

my doctor says...
ALWAYS PEE AFTER SEX.
i know that's annoying- but it's probably why you get them.
Also, your guy shouldn't rub his you know what up and down on your you know what b/c that transfer the bacteria to your you know what.. does that make sense?
Also- my friend got them a lot and it turned out she was allergic to the stuff they put on condoms...

Thanks everyone for ur responses! I always thought I was being a little more cautious when it came down to doing the deed considering how easy I get these....just got to be extra 'clean' and pee!

As for Xelindrya, sorry to hear that you case got so bad. Im happy to hear that you are ok and it was taken care of.

I would definately see a specialist if your doctor can't seem to make them stop. I had gotten one so bad that I ended up in the hospital...the infection had traveled all the way up into my kidney's...it happened all in a matter of a day...I saw a urologist, who prescribed a medication and also told me that I must urinate after sex...I haven't gotten one since

I had one and only one so bad it turned into a kidney infection and I was bleeding from my kidneys. It hurt so bad I remember FH at the time ,now DH took me out to dinner and I could barely sit comfortable, the pain was so bad in my back. Sorry if TMI. I did not have any symptoms when I had the UTI that is why it lead to a kidney infection. I was so freaked out. I went to my OB/GYN for this, and she put me on Macrobid, told me to always drink water and cranberry juice if I feel one coming on and to pee after sex. I am know so paraniod after experiencing the pain I had that I always am drinking water, it has become a habit of mine, I drink at least 8 to 10 glaases a day and have at least 1 glass of cranberry juice a week. I have not had one since. I hope you feel better. Go see the urologist.

if you use condoms with non-oxynol 9 try not using them or using something else. that's what did the trick for me. though i still take azo everyday to be safe.
