Deals from Christine at BR?

Deals from Christine at BR?

Here is the scenario - I found a dress i love at a different store for $4000. EEEKS! So I called BR to see if they could do any better. She offered a discount that i may consider BUT she says it is not a sealed deal until she puts it in writing in an order to the manufacturer. Then I have to wait to see if they approve it at that price. Is this just a ploy to get me all excited about this dress to have her come back to me and say that the manufacturer will only accept the order at the original price? I called the original store to see if i could get a counter-offer and of course they badmouthed BR saying that they have had to 'fix' many of their mistakes on this particular dress in the past. Apparantly, the 2 stores fight over this dress a lot b/c she answered my question before i even asked it.

So, my question to all of my new friends is... should I be weary of this salon and this deal?

I am always weary of time-sensitive issues if it is not immediately resolved or placed in writing. Good Luck.

which salon are you talking about???

I don't buy her story. The price the manufacturer gets has nothing to do with what you pay. The bridal salon will pay them the cost, and then the salon marks it up. Any discount she's giving you comes off the profit of the bridal salon, not the manufacturer.

I was able to negotiate a price for my dress. I recommend calling around and seeing who gives the best price. I got the best price from Wedding Center in Commack, and asked Paradise Bridals to match it, and they did. So I ordered my dress from them.

edited to say that neither of this places carried my dress, but they were both able to order it.

I agree with Lisa. The salon is charged a certain price for the dress, and they, in turn sell it to you for a higher price. There is no way they would sell it to you below cost, so 'calling the manufacturer' doesn't add up. They'll pay the wholesale cost no matter how much you end up having to pay. Maybe she really had to call her manager? I don't know. Go with the salon that you feel better about. Who do you feel is more honest with you? Paying a bit more money is often worth it in the end, if you're comfortable with the place you're ordering it from.

Yeah, I had some issues with that whole 'let me place the order first' thing - it's kind of like saying to me 'just let me make sure I have your money and then we'll see if we can get the dress you want...
The thing is I can't even consider this dress at it's current price so it's either take the deal or go with a different dress. The 2 other stores I called are not willing to move on price at all. Strange - I thought they might actually WANT my business. Oh well, I guess the quest continues. But not until I call a few other stores first......

Laura have you tried Netbride.com? I got a great quote on my gown from them, alot of LIW's have used them and seem very happy with them.

I worked with Christine at BR and she has been great. I found my dress there and told them RK Bridal had it for alot cheaper. She told me she has to call Marisa (the manufacturer) and ask them if they could sell if at a certain price. Whether she did or not, I don't know but she gave it to me for a price less than RK. She told me she asked Marisa if she could sell it for the price they sell at trunk shows. Christine was NOT pushy and as sweet as can be. I don't have the actual dress in yet so I can give a better report when I do but as of now, they have given me the best price I have found anywhere.
