I don't know much of this is true...and yes, he did say 'we get the ivy league schools and harvard and yale'...ermm....but it's an interesting read anyway
Posted by Ronkonkomonga Take my co worker, for example - he is from the bronx. He is republican because he saw a documentary on frank sinatra, and it said that 'ol blue eyes was a republican... so he is a republican now too.
That has got to be the most valid reason I have ever heard for deciding one's own political affiliation.
Anothe example, my DH's younger brother decided at 12 that he was a Republican because his Jr. High Social Studies teacher taught him oral sex was bad and Clinton was the worst thing that could have ever happened to this country. He knew a lot more about the Ken Starr proceedings than most adults and was convinced Ken Starr was right! Did I mention he was 12?!
Love your pics BTW, especialyl the last one!

I KNOW! the saddest thing is that its true. I think alot of people choose parties based on superficial things like that.
Oh - and glad it made you laugh! and especially thanks for not being offended. I sometimes come off wrong on these boards when I'm trying to be funny .

I think relatively very few Americans know any facts about the political foundations and beliefs of either party, and make their political decisions for the wrong reasons, i.e. a celebrity endorsement. What is more pathetic is that so many poeple in this country are quick to jump on one bandwagon or another, yet our voting rates of eligible voters, especially in non-presidential elections are nothing short of embarrassing. We all may forward something like that article or these pictures along, but red or blue, can you truly say you know wht your party stands for?
(Not trying to be the party pooper, just makes me sad that we have all of these rights and freedoms in this country and so many times they go to waste)
You go sista! I couldn't agree more actually!

The funny thing is that when the Republian and Democratic parties were first formed their ideals were the opposite of what they are now. Republicans were more liberal and democrats were more conservative. Somewhere along the way they reversed roles.
I wish that I could tell you what either parties ideals truly are, but since they are constantly evolving it is hard to be precise. This is actually why I registered as a independent. I do my own researching and thinking and base my vote/opinon on my own beliefs and not that of a social party.
