Dearest MIL

Dearest MIL

I love you. I really do. You are very nice, don't get into the business too much, and are funny and mostly good company. BUT...

you are really KILLING me.

Virtually every single morning, you go into the bathroom when I get out of the shower, and are still there when it's time for me to leave.

I thought it was obvious as I run past you every day with my coat on that I can't leave without getting in there. But, it must not be.

I've tried to go in earlier, thinking I was infringing on your time, but no. It doesn't matter what time I go you, you are right on my heels.

I feel badly enough that I have taken over most areas of your household...I don't want to have to TELL you not to take a shower until after I leave for work....but why can't you just KNOW that. Why is it not common sense that the people who have to LEAVE in the morning should be allowed to get ready unobstructed, and in peace?

I should not be arriving in my office at 9:45 b/c I have to use the restroom before getting on the train. EVERY day I arrive to work later than I want to. And...since I am not usually my stellar self in the morning anyway, the later I get, the more annoyed I get....the more I want to kick people down the stairs at the train station.

Now, I must stay here until at least 6, and then take VACATION time b/c of the 15 minutes I was past 9:30.

yes, that's right...VACATION time, b/c I had to pee.

So, please some how...please figure this out...b/c I am never going to tell you...I am never going to let DH tell you...but I am going to secretly want to KILL myself at 9 am every morning when I can't leave b/c of you.

Sincerely,

your unbelievably bitchy ingrate DIL

wow - i give you so much credit. i am living @ my inlaws this week and its no walk in the park - and my MIL is going out of her way to accomodate me.

why dont you have the conversation w/ her?? you pretty much have to. or make your DH do it - its his mom. explain to him that next time he wants to go away you'll have to cut the trip short because of all the days you burned because you had to pee.

OR you could pee in something and leave it in her room...... really - that was gross - but it made me laugh!

hope you can work something out

You need to have the talk with her, Jess. I mean, it's the only way she's going to figure it out. I really give you a lot of credit for living with your ILs!!! Is she on a schedule to get into work too?

ooh thats a tough one - i would try to mention it to her i know it will be hard but if she has no reason to be there it just doesnt make sense!

*OR take EVERYTHING into the bathroom with you so that way you can take a shower, get dressed and do everything you have to do BEFORE you even leave the bathroom!

Re: Dearest MIL

I can't take the toilet bowl with me. it's the need to pee I can't do anything about.

anyway, Leo said it's been on ongoing thing, and that she does it to him too...he's tried to get her to understand, but she just doesn't...

we are both going to try to just get out of there earlier.

thanks for letting me vent.
