Sweetie, I feel for you. My Dad passed away in April. What we are doing is after FH dances with his Mom, we are having 'I Loved Her First' by Heartland played and FH & I are going to dance to it. It will be a very emotional moment for me & my family but the song sounds like it's my Dad singing to my FH and we both think it will be perfect.

My prayers are with you that you'll have happy memories of your Dad with you all this week!!

My father passed away 2 1/2 years ago too (actually the week after FH & I first date). I've decided not to do a father/ daughter dance with anyone else.... b/c I really feel no one can replace him. Instead, after FH dances with his mom- I am going to say a little something and then we are going to do a dance ' In memory of my dad '. A song he wanted us to dance to that he told me many years ago....

I decided to have a dance with my mom in memory of my dad. I had my dad's best friend (who is a close family friend) walk me down but I felt it was better to ask my mom to do the father /daughter dance and make it a mother/daughter dance. It was very emotional for everyone there. Whatever you decide your dad will be watching over proud.

i actually have the same problem but the other way around.. my FH lost both is parents, and already said he will not dance with anyone else..so i originally was not going to dance with my father but FH insists on me doing so.. i dont want any attn to be on him, or for him to be sad during the dance..

I definetly know what you are going through, my dad passed away several years ago. I am dancing with my Uncle, who is walking me down the isle.

My heart goes out to you. What we are going is dedicating a song to all the mothers.

I feel your pain...my father passed away suddenly in April. I have no idea what I'll be doing. I don't want to dance with anyone...no one can replace my dad. I also don't know if I'm strong enough to watch FH w/ his mom....

good luck!

I have your exact problem. FH's parents are both deceased. I will dance with my Dad. I asked what FH preferred to do but he said he hadn't thought about it at all yet. I suggested that to make it less uncomfortable for him, I would dance with my Dad and he could either dance with my Mom or one of his sisters (although he isn't exceptionally close to them)

my dad passed away 10 years ago.....my uncle walked me down the aisle, but my mom & I danced together......she really enjoyed it, so I'm glad we did!!

Re: Deceased Father

I'm sorry about your dad. Do you have an uncle, male cousin, or male friend you can dance with. My brother (whom I'm not close with) walked me down the aisle and I danced a special dance 1/2 w/him and second 1/2 with my mom's brother. I figured since my parents are no longer here, this is what they would want.

Re: Deceased Father

DH simply didn't dance with his mom.... we had no parent dances, and I don't think anyone noticed

But this is my standard way to deal with stuff like this... I avoid it.......
