I threw my FH a tiki themed 30th birthday party. I got a lot of stuff from the x-mas tree shop. Torches, really cool tiki statues in all sizes, totem poles etc. We ordered leighs and other fun stuff from oriental trading. We also mae pine tress out of pvc pipes wrapped in burlap (sp??) and coconuts out of foam balls wrapped in brown streamer paper and fibers that I found at AC moore for really cheap!

When my Granny turned 70 she had a luau. She had lots of frozen drinks, a whole roasted pig, and tropical and Caribbean themed food (pineapples, rice, beans, etc.). For decor she basically went to Party City and went nuts getting lei's and grass skirts for everyone, lots of tiki and beach stuff too. Everyone was required to dress tropical/beach themed. Torches and candles were set up outside for when it got dark. And she hired a hula dancer who taught people how to hula and then did a show by herself. When the hula girl wasn't performing they had beach themed music like Jimmy Buffet and the Beach Boys playing. Too bad we didn't have IPods back then, I could have made a really killer mix.
I think if you go to a party store you'll get most of everything that you need and give you ideas for what you can't get there.

go to like party city and buy like stuff from there and if you are havng it in the backyard then you can derc how you want too. You can also try like VFW's KOc hall that have great rooms some of them

Definetely try Oriental Trading. They usually have tons of that stuff.
