Decision final...Destination wedding it is

We have officially decided.... We are doing a destination wedding!!! FH took me out for dinner tonight at Red Lobster and we talked about it and came to the decision that a destination wedding is our best option. If we want to have a reception in the future we can always have a vow renewal with recetion in the future for maybe a 5 or 10 year anniversary. We are going to invite a few people and if they come that's great, if not oh well. This way we can spend our money on ourselves, our honeymoon and wedding bands instead of a bunch of people that aren't that important to us. It will be less stressful money wise and we can still have an awesome honeymoon. Right now we are considering Costa Rica as our top choice. Ive always said I wanted my honeymoon to be there or Italy and the marriage requirements are less strict in Costa Rica. We've already been to the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and Cancun. We want to do something exciting, something we can really look forward to. It feels like a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders now that I know what we are doing. Now on to find the best wedding packages and places for our wedding

FH shot down my idea of Queens County Farm and doesn't really want to do a KofC or VFW hall and we've come to the conclusion that we really can't afford to have a reception at a decent RH.

Congrats on making that decision! We were going back and forth on it as well, but we opted to stay local. You will be saving lots of $$....Yipee!

I know it's been tough for us...24 RH's and here we go deciding to do a destination wedding. I'm a little bummed because I loved Larkfield Manor.

You will be very happy in the end. You won't even be thinking about Larkfield Manor while partying it up in Costa Rica!!

FH and I almost went this route..trust me I think it's so worth it! I've seen destination wedding pictures and they look amazing! Great idea to spend the money where it counts..on each other! good luck and keep us posted!!

Thanks everyone I needed the reassurance. I'm starting to get excited about it now. At first I was kinda bummed but I'm going to have my day of being a princess regardless if anyone is there to see me or not.

My friend just had a destination wedding in Vegas and LOVED it. She said it was the best decision she ever made. The people who really wanted to be there were there and it was much, much cheaper than having one here. She loved having a nice laid back day and she said she was just about stress free the entire time. They also loved having their honeymoon start right after the little reception that they had. I would have loved to have one, but my family put their foot down and my mom is too scared to fly. I'm sure your wedding will be amazing in Costa Rica. You can't beat the scenery! Congrats!! Congrats! Your wedding day will be beautiful and in the long run, you will look back and be happy with whatever you choose because you married the love of your life. FH and I were going to get married in my Dad's backyard, because it's the actual getting married part that's important, not all of the bells and whistles that don't really matter 10 years from now but cost you an arm and a leg. Enjoy Costa Rica!

Congratulations!! Don't worry about people not seeing you all dressed up. Who wouldn't want to go to costa rica & a wedding is a great excuse to go. You will have a beautiful wedding.

Congratulations!!! I wanted a DW sooooo bad -it was definitely my first choice, but my family was being difficult about it and I caved - I wish I was able to do it though. That's so exciting!!!! Good luck planning...I started working with www.destinationwedding.com - it's only $50 and they help a lot, from what I saw anyway. Look into it. Good luck!

A lot of people do just an informal at-home-reception. Dinner, dancing, and decorations of pictures from the weddings and vacation/hm.

YAY! i am sooo happy for you! i am so excited to see that you came to a decision... i saw so many of your posts trying to find an affordable place, etc. etc. etc. i know you were really having a hard time deciding what to do! good luck to you and a DW sounds awesome! i would come!
