Hey ladies, I have a question for those of you who are getting married in a church. How much decorating are you doing inside of the church? Are you getting floral arrangements for the church? If so, do you leave them at the church when the ceremony is finished? It seems like a waste to spend a ton of money on flowers at the church if they are just going to throw them out because they have another wedding in 2 hours but I can't imagine what else I would do with them. There would be no means to take them to the reception hall. I'm confused. Help!

Re: Decor / Flowers for church?
It's funny you mentioned this because I really didn't even think of that until just now. I had 2 large arrangements for opposite sides of the alter and I had bows on every two pews. My church aisle was 90 feet long so bows on every pew/every other pew would have been gaudy (IMO). However, on the first 2 pews I had a bow and flowers. Honestly, I really didn't even notice it until I got my proofs back. I forgot about it after the church, so they probably just threw them out. IMO, it's not really worth it to spend alot of $$ for church decor, because you really forget about it like I did and they will throw them away. I decided to relly 'use' the $$ I had for the flowers. Instead of over doing the church, I went with bigger CP's and bo-ks. I am so happy I made that decision because that day, I couldn't even tell you what the church decor looked like lol. It costed me around $400.00 for church decor, which (IMO) was to much. Not to mention, my florist was a friend of mine so she gave me everything near cost price (most of the flowers I picked were imported as well). Here's a few pics of my church decor, just so you could get an idea. HTH!

Re: Decor / Flowers for church?
My priest said to call the church about two months before the wedding and get the number of the other couple that will be getting married after us. He said couples split the cost of the decor all the time. The only problem is...you would have to go with basic white colors to be fair to each couple getting married. But I have no problem with that. This way, instead of paying 400 dollars you are only paying 200.

HOLY SH*T! That's an awsome idea! I wouldn't even have thought of that. There was a wedding directly after my (Christening before) and I could have split with them. GRR I wish I had known that!

Re: Decor / Flowers for church?
I'm having ribbons and ivy on every other pew to accent the pew candles (not as elaborate as JSimpson but the idea in the pic)
two small arrangements, they will be practically right next to me so I will definately notice them- and they will be taken to the ladies bathroom and the cake table? at the RH by the limo company
my mom insisted on a flower swag on the doorway of the church - dont' know where that is going... probably back to the RH for the staircase or something
edit: i can't get my pic to post.. fm me if you want it

Re: Decor / Flowers for church?
I had 12 pew bows with calla's and orchids and 2 altar arrangements. You dont leave it at the church, well not the 2 big flower arrangements, that the limo driver takes with them and brings to your RH. So we used those 2 arrangements for our RH too

Re: Decor / Flowers for church?
i am not decorating the church. I feel that the church is gorgeous without all of the flowers and such. they dont need it and i personally am not a fan of flowers.
bo-ks and bouts were enough for me!
thats just my opinion but if you are doubting the decorating im sure the church is beautiful in its own right and doesnt need any more decorations

Re: Decor / Flowers for church?
our ceremony was on a Sunday after all the masses so I figured I'd take a chance on whatever flowers they had for the masses and it was fine.
I did pew bows with silk flowers and my neighbor collected them after the ceremony.
I didn't realize until the next morning but she placed them all along my fence sort of like the balloons for a baby announcement. it was cute.

Re: Decor / Flowers for church?
I love a decorated church for weddings!
We had tall centerpieces for the reception, basically tall glass vase with a plate of flowers on top of it. So our florist decorated the church with some of those plates of flowers, and at the end of the service took them to the RH for the tables. We also had pew bows and 2 baskets with white flowers near the altar.
