Decorate Chinese Take Out Boxes??

Hi, I am still lost with my favors for my engagement party in 10 days. We are looking for ways to decorate the Chinese Boxes on the outside. We are not getting the personalized ribbons because it is not our wedding date. What else could I do? AND Besides chocolates what other candy should we put in there?

Re: Decorate Chinese Take Out Boxes??

Im very partial to those sugary fruit slice things but any large candy will do.

You can just use a pretty satin ribbon, or maybe a stamp with both of your monograms on it intertwined or nothing at all. It doesn't have to be decorated.

Re: Decorate Chinese Take Out Boxes??

How about stamping the outside of the box? Are you in/near NYC? If so, there's a great stamp store on 8th Ave and W 12th called the InkPad. They carry literally hundreds and hundreds of stamps. Maybe stamp you boxes with symbols for love, health, happiness, etc.

Re: Decorate Chinese Take Out Boxes??

Bride2003...we used the take out boxes as the favor for our rehersal dinner. We got married oin October so what I did was glue 2 leaves to the top, so that when the box is closed the leaves looked like they locked together. I made tags to hang from the handles that said Lisa & Harry's Rehersal dinner and the date. I filled it with mini wraped tic tacs, rolls of mints, gum, anf the Nips (choclate sucker candy)
Everyone loved them and the best part was that we got the boxes from our local chinese place for about .10 piece.

Good Luck!
Lisa

Re: Decorate Chinese Take Out Boxes??

I used printed ribbon for our engagement favors. . .one side had Linda (double hearts) Michael and the other side said 'Engaged Nov. 16, 2001' Or you can leave the date out and just put engagement party. . .

I rubber stamped little gift bags to put my favors it. . .you might have a problem stamping if the boxes are coated . . .you can find stamps at Michael's Arts and Crafts

If they are coated Use a paint marker and write your names and engagement party and maybe use stickers. . that may look tacky though and border on 'Sweet 16' It many turn out nice who knows. .I'd have to experiment with that one . . .

or maybe you can tie shear ribbon or any kind of ribbon to the handle on the sides and then hot glue little flowers in the center of the bows

If you want to fill the boxes with something different . . how about homemade soaps. . .they're really easy to make

Hope this helps please let us know what you decide!!
