Decorating for dummies!!!!

Ugh - I'm so stupid (no, you're not allowed to agree here).........

I finally buy curtains for the house, and NOT ONE thing I bought was right! Check this out:

1. I buy a door panel for our kitchen - the window on the door is approx. 22' wide x 35' long. So I buy a panel that measures 41' x 26', not realizing the measurements are reversed - ugh!

2. I buy panel curtains for the dining room that are 63'. It's not a formal dining room, but when I measured before I left, I measured about 77' from the top of the molding to the floor. So I figured, oh they will be a little short - but the only other option would be 86', which was too long, or so I thought! I get home, hang them (which was a whole disaster in itself), and BAM - way too short!!!!!!! - double ugh!

3. I buy the hardware to hang the rods for the kitchen door (nails and hooks), and oops! - the door is made of metal........triple ugh!

So back to the curtain store I go tomorrow - AGAIN!!!

The prices at Malburns on Voice Rd. are great - I can't complain - but I find the staff to be extremely unfriendly!!!!!!!!

LOL - the funniest part was that I DID DO THE MEASUREMENTS before I went!!!!!!

I went the first time with no measurements, and realized, ok, this isn't going to work.

Went back and bought the stuff...

Now going for a third time.

Soon I'm gonna be like Norm from Cheers when I walk in there!!

While I was out on the island last week I bought valances from the Curtain store in massapequa Park on Sunrise highway. They are very helpful!

Marni you are so funny!! That would be me too. I am sooooo not the home decorating type. I try but it never turns out the way I want it to. Martha Stewart has nothing to worry about from me!!
