Decorating the Church......w/ PoLL

FH and I are at polar oppsotes when it comes to this part. I think it is absolutely wonderful. I WANT the church to be decorated. I have yet to speak with my church( I will Thursday morning) but I am almost certain they will have no problem with it. FH thinks it is quite irrelevant for just a 50 minute ceremony. I(being quite demanding) WANT it decorated. How many of you ladies are having your church decorated? Is it just me who thinks this will look absolutely heavenly?

i'm using pew bows and 2 large floral arrangements for the pulpit.

Should the poll really say 'hell no' when we are talking about a church We are just using pew bows and maybe 2 arrangements. I am getting married Friday afternoon and not many people will even be there to notice

Without a doubt my ceremony at the church will be decorated with altar arrangements, pew bows, etc. I think it is highly important for this to be decorated because in my opinion it is where the joining of our lives begins.

I went to one wedding with nothing & it seemed odd, but I guess that's just what I'm used to.

For what that church is charging to get married they should be gratefull that all that I am using is 'hell' It looks like FH is winning this battle, I was thinking that I want a rose garland from each pew It is all about the pictures.

I like either oe of these two. I already have the altar decorations.

ps - i don't want the arch in the first pic, just the pew decorations.

Im decorating as much as my pastor will allow
Its so pretty to do that- plus the reception is usually what people spend time and money on decorating- I say the ceremony is just as important- my cousin didnt decorate for her ceremony and I noticed right away- yet- I couldnt remember what her reception hall looked like by the end of the cocktail hour-

My Church has two small arrangements on the altar. I am getting two larger ones to put behind those on stands. Then I will have pew bows and tulle draped on the stairs in front of the church.

My church had suggested that less is more. We are just decorating the pews with a small bow and some ivy.

I decorated the church with 2 alter arrangements and pew bows every other pew 4 on each side with roses/berries/trailing ivy and I am glad I did. The photos from my ceremony are gorgeous - I also brought the 2 alter arrangements from the church to my reception hall and placed them behind the bride&groom table - that way, I used them twice and got my monies worth. Maybe you and FI can compromise that way! GOOD LUCK!

I originally did want the flowers down the aisles. Then decided that expense is totally not necessary, plus it blocks guets views from seeing you two and also guest will have to walk all the way in from the sides, since then can't enter from the center with the ailse flowers.

I decided on just 2 high alter vases and pew bows and I am adding the large white butterflies on the arch to the every few rows of pew bows

We are getting two amsl pieces to put up on the alter by the unity candle and then we are going to put pew bows on the first few pews on each side. Our church is already very nice. The colors of the fabric behing the alter and carpet are the same colors as my BM dresses. Also, my church has these long rods at the end of each pew with a candle on top which they said they will light them all and have bows at the top. We actually went and saw that they do a very nice job with decorating the church for weddings, so I am psyched and ready to go!!

I think you should go ahead and decorate if you want to. If FH is worried about it being an expense, be creative and make your own bows, and have someone decorate at the church and buy a bunch of plants and dress them up with bows and single flowers stuck in.

My church will still have the altar decorated from christmas, but we are adding 2 candelabras and of course, bows on every other row for the effect while I am walking down the aisle.

If I were not getting married in January, I would have has more flowers, but I wanted a simple decor, so as not to compete with the holiday decorations.

I'm adding a few pew bows and two arrangements on pedestals. I'll be taking those two arrangements with me to the hall to put behind the sweetheart table.

We're doing pew bows, maybe incorporating flowers into the first 2 or 3 rows that our families will be seated, also I was planning on 2 nice sized arrangements for the altar.

I'm with Shamma, the price you pay for the church is ludicrous...FH thought they provided the decor, wishful thinking!

We will have the hall fully decorated - with flower arrangement at the pew ends and at the altar...I love flowers and think it is appropriate for such a joyous occassion as a wedding ...

I wasnt going to do any but we decided on 2 arrangements to go on the side and one directly in the middle so it can be seen walking downt he aisle. We're also doing 20 pew bows. The first 5 rows will also have flowers.

I AM ONLY DOING A FEW PEW BOWS, BUT THATS BECAUSE I'M AM ON A TIGHT BUDGET
OR ELSE I WOULD OF LOVED TO DECORATE THE CHURCH

I voted no, but I might do just a few pew bows. I feel it's an unnecessary added expense to have flowers all over the place. A church is a church and to me, it's beautiful the way it is and hardly needs any decoration at all. Of course, if I had a bottomless budget, I might consider dressing it up a little more than that.
