Deep Fryers?

Deep Fryers?

DH thinks it will be a waste of space to get one.
I really want one (and I eat mostly fried foods. )

Do you think it will be worth it to get one?
(Actually, my main reason for wanting one is to make fried raviolis!!!!!! Yumma! )

i would love to get one too, but DH keeps saying it's just something else that has to be stored and practically - how often would i use it??

I think its just as easy to buy a heavy bottomed pot with a metal strainer basket for it when you want to fry foods. No need to waste $$$ on another appliance. at least with the pot you can use that for other uses!

I really want one and I registered for it. But I also understand that I will probably only use it 2-3 a year. But that is ok. My aunt and uncle just got one this year and they said it made the best fried calamari ever.

I don't have one...but don't fry enough food to get one

the one thing I like about it is that you can leave the oil in the pot and just cover it up...

am470 - I registered for one along with a meat slicer, but my DH was right...who the hell wants to buy someone a fryer or slicer for a shower gift?! Needless to say, I didn't get it.

Lisa Rose - I thought about that. That's how I used to do it when I lived with my parents, but I'm just looking for an excuse to get a new 'toy'. He's got his tools, I want kitchen appliances.

I don't really know...I don't have one...but I know my mom would keep oil for weeks if not months (in a jar)

Re: Deep Fryers?

we registered for one...and then for my birthday this year my parents bought me some sort of a contraption that deep fries,a nd does other things as well...so it's not JUST a deep fryer....
unfortunately, i dont' remember what else it does and i've never used it because i'm still at home......but if you can get a multi-purpose one, that might be a good idea for you as well!
I love fried food!!!!

I wouldn't want to get one myself, since that would enable me to eat even more fattening foods! I have a hard enough time to eat healthy as it is!

We have one and LOVE it.

Makes the best fried calamari, mozzerella sticks, chicken cutlets, deep fried twinkies, and ravioli's.

I am so glad we have it. We dont use it a lot, but we do use it and LOVE it. Nothing comes out really greasy and everything tastes so good.

We actually have 2!! We have one now at our apartment, and we use it a lot. Chicken cutlets are so easy to fry in there. And FH loves his crispy french fries. We use it so much that it is kinda icky from using so often, so we got another one for Christmas from my father that we are saving for when we get a house!!

We have one and LOVE it....FH loves his crispy fried french fries, onion rings, chicken nuggets, cutlets, mozzarella sticks, you name it....he loves it, we use it very often and you can leave the oil in there for weeks, with the cover on top...but do not put the cover on till the oil is cool or the cover will melt!!!!

I also have one and I love it, but don't use it too much. It's a tiny little one I had back in the days of my apartment living. I use it mainly for fries, but would love a new one that's bigger so I can fry some other things!! Go for it!!

I have the fry daddy and we use it all the time for buffalo wings, chicken cutlets and frozen appetizers.

I love my deep fryer! I got it for my shower in April and kinda forgot about it until this past August.....now I use it all the time.

Re: Deep Fryers?

We always seemed to have a fry daddy in the house growing up and we used it constantly!! It literally sat on the counter and it's great that you can store the oil in it. Depending on how frequently you use it and what types of food will determine how long you can keep the oil

DH & I have one of those fancy schmancy ones that rotate in a covered container. It's great that the odors are filtered and it uses less oil. It also comes with a basket you can strain the oil through and a container to store it in.
