At first glance, it seems like the movie takes place in the 80's, but with the dances to Backstreet Boys and Jamiraqui (sp?) it has to be at least in the late 90's. I always thought to myself that maybe it was present day and the town's just REALLY out of the loop. And yes, I do think his uncle was prostituting himself to sell tupperware

It took place in Idaho right? So I'm sure to this day Idaho looks like 1985!!!
