definitely dissapointed

i really hate to vent and im not even angry just hurt. ok so i will try and make this brief.

i have these 2 friends the 3 of us used to work together and the company we worked for went out of business but we stayed in touch. we all met in 2007. both girls are a few years older then me and our closer to each other than i am with either of them but thats becuase they were both married and TTC when i was still a single girl, plus they live in the same town and im like 30 mins away i just dont see them as much.

well since 2007 i have attended for them;
1 bridal shower
1 bacherlorette party
1 wedding
2 baby showers
2 christenings
2 first birthday parties

and given them gifts for everything. i even sent them cards for their first mothers day. we like to get together every once in a while for breakfast and i always trek out to them even though its a hike from where i live. they have never once come out to see me. my engagement party was in october and both had RSVPed yes. the week before one of them we'll call her N texted to say she totally forgot she had her sister's surprise party that night and cant come to the e-party. the next day the other girl lets call her L sent me a facebook msg saying she wont be able to make it to the e-party after all because her hubby is going out of town and she didnt want to drive all the way out to massapequa from huntington by herself. N mailed me a gift L did not. ok i let that slide.

now my rsvp date for my shower as come and gone and neither N or L responded to my mother. so i texted N yesterday and asked if she was coming she just got back to me now that she wont be able to make it because she is going to Aruba with her hubby and they want to get in a trip before baby #2 comes (she is pregnant and due in january) so there was really nothing i could say to that but tell her i hope she has fun. and since she she sees and talks to L nearly everyday (their babies play together) i asked if she knew if L was going to make it to the shower and she says 'she's not sure she may go to montauk that weekend with her parents' umm ok you cant drive from huntington to massapequa but a drive from huntington to montauk is no problem?

im just hurt that i feel like im always being a good friend to them and they kinda ice me out. im just dissapointed that for the first time since we've all known each other i've finally had something to celebrate and they could care less. they havent even met my fiance and we've been together nearly 3 years. and it just irks me that they cancel on me last minute and rsvp yes first. i may lose my cool if they rsvp yes for the wedding and back out at the last minute. i understand that they are both a few years older than me and mothers so they probably feel like they dont have much in common with me, but it not as if im some 21 year old party girl either. i dunno im just hurt, i feel like ive been a good friend for years but when it comes to being a good friend to me its too much work for them,

as i being unreasonable? i know people travel over the summer and have their own lives. but i would just like them to give a crap about atleast one thing going on in my life.

im sorry this is longer than i thought it would be i just had to get it all out. thanks for all those that read this long long rant.

it will be okay. I can totally understand being disappointed by people who you thought were your friends. or worst yet, being disappointed by people who are your family. Hope they step up and have some class and at least rsvp no this way you know where you stand within the friendship and move on.

Your not wrong to feel the way you do , I would too. It sounds like your a good friend to them and they have taken advantage of that. If they don't show to the wedding I would write them off! It doesn't matter if they are a bit older and have kids, that doesn't mean that this event in your life is any less important than what they have going on in theirs. I can understand if one of them had a trip already planned and paid for, but honestly the other one could leave her kids in montauk with her parents for a few hours and drive to your bridal shower, I would do that in a minute for my friends. Im sorry that they are being like that to you, its kind of crazy how weddings make you realize who your true friends are.

Im sorry. I would definitly feel the same way as you do. You seem to have been a good friend to them and they just unfortunitly took advantage of that. I hope they both show for the wedding and if not at least rsvp no. and then you can forget about them. Sorry

You are not wrong for feeling this way at all. I can totally understand your frustration. I would be particularly annoyed at the fact that Huntington is NOT that far away from Massapequa! Just head south! If they do this to you for the wedding, that would be the final straw for me.

Sorry you are going through this ...
