Definity Health Plan

Definity Health Plan

I am 2 for 2 with the boring questions today !!!

Does anybody have Definity Health for their health coverage?

I am trying to decide and I don't quite understand the plan.

I can either choose Definity, Blue Cross PPO, or Oxford HMO. Of course, Oxford is the most expensive, followed by Blue Cross.

I don't go to the Doctor often (maybe 3 times a year to Primary and then for my annual with GYN). But I want to make sure I have decent coverage if anything should ever happen.

THANKS !!!

Re: Definity Health Plan

my parents have been covered by Definity for a while now and i know they are very pleased with it. for a long time they didnt even have co-pays on their prescriptions! (i believe they just recently started charging a small co-pay).
they have good out of network coverage as well.
my mom knows a lot about insurance (used to work for a doctor) and she thinks its great coverage. hope that helps!

Re: Definity Health Plan

Hey there- I work in a medical office doing insurance too, and Definity is pretty good! Check the obvious things first, such as copays, deductibles, and max payouts, but also check into their authorization policy.

BC/BS PPO is also very good.

Steer clear of Oxford! I have Oxford, and it is seriously going downhill. Copays are high, and I'm very limited as far as therapy treatments, both chiropractic and physical therapy. Anytime I've needed something 'authorized' by Oxford (some lab tests, minor surgeries, physical therapy), they take their sweet time, and have denied and made me complete an appeals process. For example, I get covered for 1 pap a year. Mine came back abnormal, so I needed further testing. They didn't want to pay for it! I had to fight.

Good luck choosing! If you have anymore questions, I can definitely help.

I totally agree. i work in this field too. I actually have never heard of definately though (although, maybe its covered under a multi-plan?), but i have to agree that you should stay away from Oxford! so many issues. BCBS is one of the best plans I've seen,,, and its so much better to get a PPO than an HMO (less limitations as far as referrels, etc...). Im surprised that Oxford is more expensive than BCBS since a PPO, IMHO, is so much better than an HMO.
