Well, we went to the Zales Outlet and they took 30 or 40% off and it came to 380ish (orgininally $599- half a karat) with lifetime protection for just mine.

FH doesnt like jewelry so he is being difficult- btut he one he originally wanted was only $50- the one I liked for him I think was in between $150-200.

there is no good answer for you, I think it all depends on what you can afford and what your taste is.

I got an eternity band so I spent a lot on it but I went to a private jeweler so I wouldn't have to pay tax. It also depends on the size of your finger and the size of the diamonds you want.

some people prefer a classic gold band, etc.

Some people plan on upgrading for future anniversaries and do what they can afford now.

also, FH wants eventually to get a dressy one with diamonds which we priced for about 1k, but so far all he has is stainless that my jeweler gave us when we picked up my ring for free.

My wedding band matches my e-ring, with the round stones and baguettes (sp) pic below which cost $500 and Fh got a tungsten carbide wedding band which cost $180

No...I dont think that you are being unreasonable at all! My argument was to spend the most on the bands...I didnt care how much they cost because they are a DAILY reminder of your day. You are not going to eat the food in 1 year, or ever deal with the dj again...so I felt that it was ok to spend a lot on the bands. (Even though I spent less then what I thought I would)

I budgeted 5k...but

I spent 1900 on mine (an eternity band- almost 2 carats)
and
About 1k on my fh... .30 carats of diamonds in white gold.

Remember that gold is less then platinum...so if I had bought platinum it would have been more expensive

FH just bought 2 diamond rings last night for under $200.00... they are going out of business so everything is marked down 80%.

Mine was about $3000, just under i think (14k white gold, just under 1.5 carats princess cut, custom made setting) , FH's was about $150 (titanium)

That's good my fh does not wanna spend too much on his and he says me e- ring was way more then he wanted to spend lol so ill go for a band that is not too pricy, but I want to get it engrave which I think is more meaningful

Same here...I got my ring for $500 (it was a$4,000 ring...) and got FH's for $150 (a tungsten ring).
I was also able to steal a gorgeous diamond cross pendant w/chain for $120 (orig $800)...Everything is 80% off and if you open a credit card with them it is one year no interest...

DH's white gold band was 500.

My platnium band (Im allergic to nickel which is in white gold) was $1200

Ours were around $600 for both and that's with the Zales protection plan (free diamond replacement, free sizing). DH got tungsten and I got a band with the channel set diamonds but it's a pretty low carat weight, which is why it was so inexpensive.
