Honestly, no one can answer this but you... you have to decide whats more important to you... to have everyone there or to have the intimate gathering

It's also hard question to answer because I think a lot of people have a different idea of what a 'big' party is. How many guests right now are you expecting?

shutting down a restaurant in the Hampton's for a wedding might make you go broke too.

What about snapper inn? I havent been there in ages?
Honestly its up to you. Will you be sad down the road if you dont have your big wedding? 120 isnt huge though. My coworker just had her wedding at a restaurant and had 118 people!
It seems like you really want a venue on the water instead of where you are now. Hmmm must think about this. Ill do some research and get back to you

Re: Opinion
It really is up to you. I wanted a small affair with just close family and friends at a restaurant, and I still do after all of the stupid planning. But I got a lot of resistance because 'so many people want to share in your day' and its 'not fair' to invite some and not others. Granted, my parents are paying, so they should have some say, but now its turned into something that i really never wanted in the first place inviting 200 people and so much stress.
You really just need to do what is going to make YOU and FH happy, not everyone else!

Re: Opinion
Id just be sensible and keep a close watch over the $ youre spending. Dont go nuts w menus, programs etc.
Fyi my coworker spent 7k on her restaurant wedding and got about 2k in gifts. She got a lot of actual gifts and not money. People give less at a less formal venue i guess.

Re: Opinion
you have been having so many second thoughts about this. have you and FH talked about what you can afford and how much you actually WANT to spend? if you can't justify spending that much on a wedding, then go the smaller venue route, although, by industry standards, 120 min is already small. i am only inviting about 115 people to my wedding. if you go to a restaurant, you may be able to invite about 50 people min and make it more budget friendly, but you would still have other costs, like the dj, flowers, limo, photo, video - if you still choose to use them. marrying your FH, it shouldn't matter if its in the spring, summer, fall or winter, its the happiness of beginning your lives together. is having that ocean view really that important to you in the grand scheme of things? because i hate to say it, but only you and your immediate family will remember these small details. everyone else may remember bits and pieces, but may not remember one of the things that was so important to you about your wedding. you have to compromise with the wedding planning and see what should be a priority and what you can live without. I hope you guys decide and that things go smoothly for you too!

yeah i know that. I was thinking about Bridgeview Yacht Club in Island park bc it still has that ballroom feel but its on the water. Wonder what the pricing is there...

I believe i got quoted around $125-$150 for a sat evening summer starting price, but I can look for you when I get home to be sure!

Re: Opinion
i just wanted to say-we are paying for our wedding and there really is no budget we just want to do it the least nicest way we can. ppl really only have a budget if someone else is paying for there wedding. you have to take one step at a time, right now fh is paying the hall monthly beacuse i cant and than once the hall is paid off worry about the other stuff. even if you book photographer, flowers etc now you only put a down payment and than the rest is due like 2 months before the wedding.

Re: Opinion
Everyone is different and has their own opinion on weddings.. I wanted a nice wedding with friends and family but its going to be pretty big due to the size of our family lol! However my friend is getting married and wants to do a destination wedding because she only wants her Close friends and fam at it and wants it to be small. So it really depends on what you want. I think both small and large weddings are Great!!
