I have...we met on match.com I think you are a great sister for trying to set her up. Will she get emails from the dating service or will you? Cuz if she is, she might wonder how they got her email. Being a womand who is not a size 6, I can totallly understand how mad you are about how guys like 'john' think a girl's weight somehow determines the quality of the person. I thank God everyday for my FH who fell in love with me...not my body type. There is someone out there for her, I think she will appreciate your little 'shove'.

Re: NWR: Rant and then a question
The only concern I have is that you did this behind her back. Now that you registered her, I think you better let her in on the surprise! It is her life, her feelings that are at stake with this!
Maybe bring it up after watching 'Must Love Dogs'!!! You'll understand this part if you watch the movie first without her!

I'm worried about that too... I don't want her to get the idea that I think she is too much of a 'loser' to meet someone on her own... I just KNOW that she won't do it. And I feel like if I tell her BEFORE she gets any responses she might just erase the profile. She has a habit of not putting herself out there because she doesn't want to be hurt. I kind of was hoping to get her a few responses so that way she can see some guys really ARE interested in her heart and her gifts - not just her waist size.

Then, wait till after the few responses come in (and by a few, I say 2-5), but def. check out the movie. It's completely related to this matter entirely!

I understand your heart is in the right place and if it were me I would do it. But, then again, I don't know your sister and I don't know how she would take it when she found out. Me personally I would do it. By the way-what an a$$hol3!!! He doesn't deserve her.

Watch it with your FH - it's a romantic comedy. FH and I watched it on HBO last Sunday.

Never met someone online but I heard that match.com and some of the online dating services really are great. I'm not sure if what you did is wrong. I think if you were my sister I would feel that you were just looking out for me. I may not like it much but I would consider it nice of you to worry and consider me

hey i met my fh online . i am a overweight girl i know the feelings your sister may have. but that guy i wanna punch him in the nuts. i hate when guys are soo shallow. i should say when people are shallow. i think its a great wayfor your sister to meet someone online but i would tell her so she is not mad at you for going behind her back. i think its very nice of you to think of her. but as far as thay jerk i say we try getting a bombshell and make her make the same remark to him see how he likes it. and laugh at him.

Well I may not be a 'bombshell' but I told him that he was a pretty loose slab of beef himself. He didn't like that very much.

Re: NWR: Rant and then a question
I used to be quite heavy (260 to be exact) and used to get rejected a lot BUT not any more or less than my thin counterparts. When I was heavy, I dated thin men all the time. In fact, I rarely dated big guys at all. I think this is an isolated incident and not all men are like this. He is a true tool
I do think, however, that placing an ad without her consent is wrong. I for one would be infuriated regardless of the outcome - especially since you have stated her self-esteem is low. If she is anything like the way I was when I was heavy, she may feel as if you think she cant find a man on her own. Revealing the information that you shared with us (her age and dating status) would be more than she would want anyone to know. Im sorry to sound so harsh when your heart is obviously in the right place but I just put myself in her shoes -i lived through it.
Once I was confident after my weight loss, I joined an online dating service on my own and met and married DH. So yes online dating can be successful. I would tell her as soon as possible as she may not want her information floating around cyberspace.

YIKES! Goldi - you are right. I wasn't thinking when I put her age and dating history. That was thoughtless and I deleted it!
Thanks for pointing that out. I was kind of thinking 'nobody will know her HERE'. But you never know who might stumble across this..
