I am so sorry that this happened to you!

I think that is sooo ridiculous that Jewelers Mutual refused to cover the diamond because they thought that it was an 'extreme' upgrade when it was within the same range of your appraisal!! I'm really so sorry that this happened to you, especially because you have insurance to have peace of mind if something ever happens to your e-ring....not extra grief!

Once you get this situation straightened out I HIGHLY recommend the 'Chubb' policy through 'Touchstone Insurance.' This is the insurance I have. I heard about it through Pricescope.com, which is a forum dedicated to diamonds. Lots of people on that site recommend this insurance. What's great about it is if you lose/damage your e-ring they give you a CASH payout that you can use to get a new e-ring NOT just a replacement. They only insure jewelry that has been appraised for 10K or more. The yearly charge is slightly higher than Jewelers Mutual, but not much. I think it is worth the slightly higher cost to have the peace of mind.

In addition to the 'Chubb' policy, Touchstone also has another policy 'GemShield' but it's similar to Jewelers Mutual...they just give you a replacement.

Here is the link to Touchstone:

I hope everything works out with your e-ring!
