Re: Bridesmaid Dress Stress!

I'm toying with picking a length, color and material and letting the BM's choose their cut, cause I have a similar issue.

I think different dresses will look fine and it'll save you a lot of drama and aggravation.

Here's the dress my girls are wearing. It seems to suit all body types pretty well, and I have girls of all shapes and sizes It's chiffon, has a rouched waist area, and is nice and flowy. It's from the Jasmine Belsoie line.

I agree wtih LAura in regards to this type of dress. There is also a very similiar one by impressions which my girls tried on and it suited different body types very well.

I think that in general, a dress which is fitted on the boob area and then flows down from there with an empire waist as the point of the seem will suit everyone. You can try silk/satin or chiffon and see which flatters better.

You can always pick out a material/length/color of dress and let each BM pick their own dress? That is getting more and more popular now and it actually looks pretty wonderful.

I have the same problem so I am going for an A-line dress. Its flattering on everyone but I am dreading going BM shopping bc I know my girls are going to drive me CRAZY!

I am going through the same thing. I would choose the color, material, and length of the dress and let the girls pick out the cuts that flatter them most. Then everyone will be happy and look their best because they are wearing flattering silhouettes.

If you hate that idea, then dresses cut like the one attached (not necessarily the dress/fabric itself) seem to flatter everyone, and all boobs can wear a supportive bra, and all hips will be ok with an e-line skirt that floats off the body.

I would suggest not doing a long gown, but that is my own opinion.

My girls are all different heights, ranging from 5'1-5'10, and I am 5'5 (right in the middle!) the short girls, one has boobs, one has hips, and the tall girls, one has a wider ribcage with a smaller chest, and one is perfect (*****, she's the maid of honor! haha). I am still debating the different dresses, I don't want to go with strapless because I do not want to see them hiking their dresses up all night...but who knows! haha

oh and (I know this is long) my cousin got married and picked out a dress from JC Penny, she pulled it off the rack, had all the girls buy it in their size and just get it tailored to them. The girls looked great, that's another idea for you!

I had the same issue. All 5 of my girls are pretty different too, so I let them choose their own dresses, which they loved.

i have the same issue...5 girls, 5 body types. We are having their dresses made. Actually not that pricey compared to some brands of BM dresses. This way everyone is happy. I picked color, length, material and they brought in pics of what they want to wear and hopefully it will all work out! I always think trying to make everyone wear one style isn't the best option. How can everyone look good in one dress?

I have a similar issue and this is the dress I'm leaning towards . . .

I tried it on and I *think* it would flatter a lot of different body types. It's also just under $200 so it's not super expensive for my bridesmaids to buy. I think if I rounded all my BM's up to go dress shopping we'd probably wind up with everyone wanting a different dress. Unless you're willing to have your girls in different dresses I'd just try to pick something A line and not clingy. Good luck!

Re: Bridesmaid Dress Stress!

this style is really flattering. i would've chosen it but it's too much like my gown...check out the Belsoie dresses. They have a ton of options and you can even switch the material on the styles and change lengths, etc. They are pretty moderately priced.

I decided to let my BM's choose their dress; I just gave them the designer, color, material, and length it had to be in and let them choose.

I gave my BM the choice out of 3 dresses that way they could pick what they were comfortable in. It made for happy BM the day of.

I had 7 bridesmaids all with completely different body types. What I did was pick a designer/color/fabric & length and had my bridesmaids pick their own dresses. I felt that isf everyone picked their own, they could not complain and also, I think my bridesmaids all looked great and comfortable with their individual styles.

So I have five girls that represent five completely different body types. No curves/skinny, post-prego, all boobs, all hips and hips+boobs. Am I being totally delusional that I can find a dress for everyone to like?? Esp because the two most outspoken have completely opposite body types (all boobs and all hips). Anyone find a good dress for all body types? Or is anyone completely mixing it up?

TIA!

I did Davids Bridal and picked a color and let the girls choose their own dress. There was something like 40 different options in the color I chose. I just know everyone has different bodies and I would never want to wear something I didn't think I looked good in!

I work in a bridal store. I have seen the following work for a variety of figures (all should be under $200):

Also, check out Mori Lee bridesmaids. They don't charge for extra length or plus sizes.

Re: Bridesmaid Dress Stress!

I have 9 girls and ALL with totally different body types. My MOH is even on the way heavier side. I have girls who are 5 ft 2 and girls who are 5 ft 8. I have girls that weight 120 lbs and girls over 300 lbs.

I didn't think it would be possible to find one dress that they ALL liked and would want to wear... and looked good on them all. But I did it!! I found a dress in RK Bridal... that was very flattering to all figures. I'll post a pic.
